Axle nut
I have a 3.45 diff that I've been trying to put in but I have an issue with getting my damn axle nuts off. I've heated them I've tried everything. I'm about to just buy all new knuckle assemblies. I'll add a picture of what I'm talking about. I don't want to melt it off ... yet. But i need some suggestions here.

Use a long breaker bar.

Blaster penetrant, let it soak for a day, and maybe the only hope is a Kahuna Impact with the correct 36 mm axle nut socket. It looks totally fused on, so you may need to use a air chisel and split the nut as a last resort.

Axle nut
I've soaked for about a month and have used a 6ft bar. No luck. I actually start lifting the cat off the lift when my buddy helped. My car is from Detroit so the winters and all the salt there obviously didn't help this poor little nut. I've been trying to do this swap for about a year but this nut is the reason I can't . I'll just take it into work and cut it off probably or take the whole knuckle off and go from fhere

Try Kano penetrating oil. This what mechanics in the refineries use for the big bolts that won't come loose

cold chisel, hold it with channel locks so you can hit it with a small sledge hammer, line up on the nut(wear safety googles plz) and go for it and try splitting...some times don't even need to go all the way for it to break...seriously doubt this could twist the end off the axle but either way the axle threads r prob trashed so go find a good replacement axle FIRST!
Hopefully the hub isn't trashed due to the heating etc...may want to invest in one of those to...good luck..peace out...

First get in there with a wire bruch and clean away the corrosion until you get to shiny metal. Once cleaned up, start hitting it with daily dose of a penetrating oil. After a week, heat and try it with a big breaker bar of strong impact. If it doesn't come loose, soak it again and repeat.

This is probably the best penetrant ever.
http://www.kanolabs.com/ Kroil spray is magic I swear. Amazon has it, good luck! |

Axle nut
That Kroil spray is all I use at the shop and it does amazing things but apparently my axle nut was put on my the lord himself and is impervious to everything. I cleaned it and what have you but I'm pretty sure they are fused together. I'll probably take it to the shop on Monday and hit it with the heat hard. I'm getting to the not caring point and will do what it takes to get this pig out lol. I'll keep it updated. I have axles and hubs and everything for my swap.
