One of the GM engineers working on the Z/28 development explained to me the smaller rear tire stretched on a wider rim is from the same theory used on the 1LE setup, it loosens up the car. This allows the car to rotate better through high speed corners without increasing front end push.

I am interested to hear from some of you who have actually tracked your car with the 305 and 325 rear tire and the difference you actually feel in the seat. I know I have had the rear kick out several times (especially in race mode) and it seems in theory a wider rear patch should help this?

I've tracked both and I prefer the 325's in the rear. Like you said as soon as you put it in mode 5 or off, the rear can get pretty scary (also fun). I'm coming from an e36 m3 race car with a square 285 setup. I normally like square setups but I just prefer the 325 in the rear on our car.

my feelings exactly about the rear kicking out...the wider rear contact patch would seem to be a help IMHO...watch Randy Pobst in the best driver's car 2014 lap at Laguna Seca as he nearly loses it out of the corkscrew. With an expert like that "kicking out" a Z/28 rear that is loose(oversteer), more rear tire would definitely be a help. I will stick with my guns and say it had nothing to do with the "rotation" and solely an effort to save GM $ from their Pirelli tire source.

That 325 looks good on the rear, I think I'll try this when tire replacement comes up. I don't like how in stock form the rears are sucked into the fender more than the front.
