SS brake conversion for V6 car
Ok guys it is time to replace the rear brakes on my Camaro. I figured this would be the best time to upgrade my brakes. I have read that the stock SS brakes are a big upgrade from the V6 brakes. My problem is I can't find the threads regarding this conversion. I remember reading a post saying you will need different caliper brackets and hoses. It was unclear if the backing plate had to be changed or if it was simply removed. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Btw I could have sworn I saw a post by one of the sponsors here selling a full kit for this conversion. Does anyone know which sponsor it might have been? Thanks for any help |

I just did this conversion on my 2014 2LT last night. It took way longer than expected, but not bad. Trimming the rear brake shields was probably the biggest issue for me. I followed that thread above though, and everything worked great. I however did have one problem that I might want to pass along for anyone reading. If you do not have the RS package with 20" rims, you WILL need to purchase bigger rims. The stock 18" ones do not give enough clearance. On that note.. I ended up purchasing some 6th Gen OEM SS rims and tires, and the fitment was just barely enough to clear. I'm talking no more than a piece of paper's thickness, and even then they will unfortunately make a little contact on turns, so I purchased 5mm spacers. In all, if you have a 5th gen 1 or 2LT, you'll need to buy bigger rims for the Brembos. So either make sure you buy 5th gen SS ones, or buy spacers and 6th gen SS ones. Any questions feel free to ask.
