Transmission and Differential Fluid Change?

Right at 37k on my 2010 figured it would be time to change both of these. Whats the proper mileage to do this per GM? My dealer quoted me at $475 for both with Amsoil fluids, filter, etc. Is this worth it or too much? I dont have time to do it myself, so i rather have the dealer do it.

According to the manual

50k miles in heavy city/hard uses
100k miles in normal use

Trans; are they doing a full flush, filter and new gasket?

high of $12 per qt:

Pan drop only:

6.7 qts (say 7) $84
Filter $50
Gasket $45

Labor: drop, replace, clean fill

@ $125 per hr 1 hr min (guessing 1.5 hrs) ~ $200

With all that, + shop supplies and recycle, $381

Diff -- same as trans, depends on use:

1 qt is $30, takes 20 minutes. Drain and fill.

Say min is 1 hr @ $125 per hr with oil, shop supplies, and recycle: $175.

Don't know the shop rates, but knowing how they price, that is close...

Sound like they are only doing a pan drop. If flush, no gasket or filter, but 10.9 (11) qts probably + labor...

He said The prices I quoted are for dropping the pan, replacing the filter and completely flushing the oil fluid out before refilling with new fluid.

Sounds fair. Don't wait... myself, I changed all the fluids when I bought mine used. I now change the trans every 10k max since I road race it.

BTW, Jannetty has a dip stick for the auto transmission. Good time to consider that...

Fluids are cheap, repairs usually are not.

I changed my OEM fluids at 20K. Not needed but I preferred to change out the oem fluid to Synthetic.

I changed the diff fluid yesterday, my 2010 is a little over 39,000. It came out a dark grey and went back in a Royal Purple 75w90. It takes a little over a quart ($27.00 a quart at Oreilly's) although you should use a 3/8" pipe plug socket most guys just stick a 3/8" ratchet in the hole. It will take you ten minutes to do the rear diff with a jack, jack stands, 3/8" ratchet and two bottles of the appropriate gear oil.

Myself, I used factory AC/Delco since I get a good deal on it and change it often. Works fine for what I do.

From my build thread:

Quote:
Transmission fluid change coming now. Thought I'd post this as some folks may be thinking about getting 'gallon' size -- just found this out today:

10-9030 Gallon size (10-9029 is qt size)

Part No. 88861954 ACDelco 10-9030
Part Description FLUID
Replaced By 88865602 ACDelco 10-9395
Manufacturer GM. This genuine GM part is guaranteed by GM's factory warranty.

So, 10-9395 is the new 'gallon' size. Looks like a part number change and is cheaper too:

New from amazon:

Previous (10-9030):
