Big boys boost--- Intake thoughts and use?...
Currently I have a LSXR 102mm intake and worried about the boost.. some last some dont.. just would like to avoid any issues as I am currently at 24psi... looking to go up to about 28psi over next winter... but looking to do something this spring in prep..
430cu in LSX with F1x (geared way down.. only spinnning 62000 compared to the "limit" of 72000rpm... @ 24-25 psi boost not... looking to up it within 12 months... If your over 20psi , what are you running and why?... how you like? do anything different?... some friends mentioned looking at the Mast 2 pc intakes... other mentioned holley hi-rise... but seems the MAst has been mentioned more... would you be worried about running 24-25psi on lsxr intake?.. higher?... also what happens if it blows?.. hurt engine or just a pain in the ass?.. curious on how quickly I need to act to avoid issues... tHanks for any input!!!!!!

Stock LS3 is good
Carb style intakes with an elbow rules for meth injection mid rise Holley if you cut cowl PMC sheetmetal are sick Really anything but the FAST 102 |

Intake
I'm running the Holley Sniper but with only 21lbs with AGP Twin Turbo. Not the quality of the PMC sheet metal intake but I love the look of it. 11,000 miles on it so far and 0 issues.

Here's a Holley Hi Ram but you'll have to cut the cowl and you'll lose your passenger side wiper

In reality...how many of the LSXR intakes have blown apart ?
What sort of rpm range are you operating in ? Does it need to be a low profile to clear stock hood etc ? |

I am just concerned about this lsxr102 I have as I hear stories... but who knows how valid.. so beign that I am at 24-25psi.. I am hoping i am ok but I just hate to hope.. .. just looking for something that wont rob too much power but be more solid for the boost...

looks nice!.. .I wonder how much power you are losing due to running this intake versus a lsxr or stock intake.. I hear they also run better at higher rpm.. ie.. over 7000.. but not sure.. what did they say it was good too relative to boost handling?

lol... thats the issue.. I have the FAST 102 on it now... but seems all my options push the power to the much higher RPMS.. ie.. to rpms I wont even reach.. and worried about losses down low.. confused i guess..

TBH, I'd just run the fast and see what happens.
Either that or just move back to a stock intake. Or if it really must be aftermarket, has the MSD Atomic been proven with lots of boost yet ? But I'd agree, from a performance point of view, all of the big intakes would probably hurt performance everywhere you would actually be using the engine. Although some of the alloy ones, even the Chinese Holley stuff do look nice. |

ported ls3 throttle body and holly highrise intake manifold. 418 ls3 with 20+ psi. ended up porting the manifold as well and exhaust manifolds (stock headers)

Thank you! I love it! The car drives like stock and makes plenty of power. I'm not looking to make every last 2 HP with my car so Maximum HP doesn't matter to me. I drive it 11,000 miles a summer and it drops jaws when I open the hood. I just can't stomach the looks of the stock LS3 intake in my ZL1. LOL. But no doubt about it, the stock intake is the best all around unit for any power level.

If you use the bmr engine mounts and lower the engine down an inch you have to cut a small portion of metal but keep all wipers.
