Running the firehawk Indy 500's

They're good in the twisties and launching. I've been really happy with mine

Just would love to find something that isn't a drag radial that takes off almost like one. I don't even care too much about how they wear out fast. I just want to be able to still drive on trips. And some drag radials heat up on long trips and can blow out. Also don't want to find myself hitting rain and end up spinning with my gal in the car.
Here they are at the track....aired down to 26 psi. And this is with 391s. Ive talked to 2 or 3 hard core racers via pms here. They have had Nitto 555r dr. Good things were said about them. Mickey Thompson are better at the track but wear to quick for street driving. Not good in the rain. Also with big hp i can see how the Mickeys are better. But for my power and casual track time Nittos are my choice.

I have an L99 with CAI cold air with Apex Race Scoop ,long tubes, high flow cats, LS3 exhaust with GMPP axle-back and tune. I have just bought a nitrous kit. Will be running a 100 shot. Comp 2 's are on my radar already. I know they are good. Can you launch with them?

I am looking at 295's also. Nothing bigger on my stock rims.

Can you launch from a dead stop good with them? I do a lot of spinning in first gear now.

Just you know the 2 guys on your other thread your taking advice from on the Nitto 555r tires know their stuff. Always take advice from members that know.....not those with just an opinion.

I have m/t once you drive in them for a bit and they warm up there good. Haven't had any problems with then in the rain (better than the previous zero). If you want to hook up better do your rear suspension. Especially if your tires are still good. It would cost the same as 2 rear tires.

Not trying to thread jack, Ive narrowed it down to comp 2's or Continental Extreme Contact DWS06...I am really torn between these 2 brands/types of tires. Looking to burn off the p-zeros and install one of these two options on the rear (in the next week or 2).

Can't you slip the clutch a bit when launching?
Works for me.

That's good to read. I ordered a set last week.
#1 on TireRack ratings.

I've got 275 Indy 500's on my front wheels. I love em. Before I switched to the Nitto NT05 on my rears, I was wearing the Indy 500's on my rears also.

The 315 NT05's were nice tires... but they sucked in weather, and wore out fairly quick.

I got some Nitto NT555 G2's on my rears now and I absolutely love em! These tires are outstanding, with plenty of tread and they look wider than the NT05's. I highly recommend them.
