The bottom of the hood, and strut if you could. Just trying to get a feeling of what when wrong.

OK, here you go, the one picture shows approx. how the cap was laying when I opened the hood last night, and then how it should be...

Cruddy, that looks exactly like what happened. There must be a lot tighter clearance than I expected. I may have to grab some of the kids playdough and see exactly how much clearance there is with my caps vs the original caps.

When I get this fixed I am going to apply some silicone to hold that cap, or maybe get some type of aftermarket.

I think a little bit of silicone would be just fine. They "thread" on so it would just be a bit extra measure to keep it from coming off. Did it damage the bottom part of the cap?

Yep, just put a little mild adhesive on mine. What a bizarre problem but it sure effed up the hood! Sorry you had to be the warning, OP. But thanks

Well that is why I posted, I may be the only one to experience but if I can prevent someone else from having the issue it makes me feel better!

Thanks
Dan

I really don't think it was the Strut Cap - there is clearance there

Under the car, specifically at the strut, spring and related components.

It is possible the cap was the culprit although I think it may be but because of another problem. The hood can't move down onto the cap so perhaps the cap is moving up into the hood, what would cause this? Take a look under the car at the struts and components, even just to be safe.
