v6 owner.house, cars, and 10 guitars all paid for.paid cash for the camaro.im thinking the salesman wasnt expecting that as i test drove in a ratty tank top, shorts, and sneakers.yes i drove the v8.in fact i also tested a used 2004 vette at the same dealer a month before.was coming from a pontiac solstice convertible that was really too small, and owned two v8 musclecars for 25 years before that so that itch was scratched.there is a reason camaros come in I-4,v6,and v8 models.there is a model for everyone.pick what suits you the best and dont hassle other camaro owners because they chose what they wanted.

OP, you need to do as someone suggested and rent a car for the day to try it out. With your being in the Great White North, I'm not sure a vert is the best choice. I bought a V6 Vert for the following reasons
1 I wanted a Convertible for my wife and me to enjoy riding in the mountains and along the beach. 2. I use the car as a Daily driver and not having to pay and extra 60 cents per gallon for fuel was a plus. I drive about a 1000 miles per week. 3 I love the V8 sound but don't have to have the sound to enjoy life. I have a Harley to make noise with. 4. The V6 has plenty of power to get up and go anywhere I need it to take me. The top down makes it more stylish to get there in. 5 Insurance was cheaper for the V6. If you only want style, get a 2LT RS Convertible. If you want the power and sound with it get the V8 Its that simple of a choice. |

Get the V6. It's an exotic sounding high tech engine. Why be stuck with an obsolete truck motor..(LS3). Unless you race, there's no point in spending $8-10K more to be stuck in more debt with worse mpg and higher insurance costs. And, remember the 6th gen SS is almost faster than the V8 as they are from the V6's.
Educate yourself and go visit the V6 board. Derek was making 316 rwhp with bolt-ons and E85. That only 4 hp less than what the average L99 "V8" makes. My advice is get the best car for your budget and remember there is always someone faster. I got the V6 because it was the best option for my budget. I don't plan on upgrading because I don't think the performance of the old V8's are really that great, not now when it is utterly outclassed by the new high tech LT1 V8 in the 6th gen. If and when the 10sp auto ever becomes available for the regular SS, the performance will get even better. |

I really enjoy my V6, for what I use it for, it is perfect. As many others have previously said you have to take all factors into consideration and buy what is best for you and not worry about what was best for others.

Isn't there multiple posts on this forum from a GM Master Tech who stated the 3.6L WILL fail at some point, it's just a matter of time? It grabbed my attention as I believe my fathers new Buick Lacrosse has the 3.6L.

This has been a long standing debate here on this board. I would tell you to drive both and decide for yourself which powertrain would be right for you.

Modding a V6 to match the performance of a V8, tells me you should have bought a V8 to begin with
![]() The wife and I have been in our own house (not renting or leasing) since we were 23 years old. We sold our 1st house when we were 28 and bought a larger one in Seabrook, where we currently reside. Not to mention owning and selling multiple vehicles & motorcycles throughout those years. Money is a personal problem for MOST, so is buying a sports car. I think the whole rationalizing is BS, because it is a privilege to own/drive a vehicle not a necessity. So when buying... one should go about it as a treat to yourself.

These threads always degrade into whatever I'm driving is better than what you chose. OP try a couple different cars out & see what feels right. You are the one who has to live with your choice so do your homework and do what makes YOU happy.

10 pages by tomorrow?
Somewhere on this forum you can find a thread where I test drove a V8 while owning a V6. I think it was titled, "The Worst Mistake I Almost Made." Fast forward a few years later. Check my sig for what I own now. Just sayin...
