TSP new L99 cams
Hi all
I read a relatively recent article in enginelabs regarding the revised TSP cams for the L99(with VVT), the most tame added a 104hp (stage 1.2) and up to around 140hp for stage 4.2 Testing was done on an engine dyno I'm really interested in trying these, I'll probably go with 1.2 or 2.2 Has anybody tries these? What other valvetrain mods are required with these? Inspiro |

TSP new L99 cams
I doubt this has had time enough to spread never mind install since February BTW. Good to see new mainstream LS VVT developments covered in the article. In sum:
L99 with new Stage 4.2 130 HP VVT cam swap makes +100 rwhp over stock just like an LS3 similarly fitted with TSP's top spec cam. VVT performs better, broader spread, etc. No AFM because lift at valve in mid .6s. TSP's new Stage 1.2 VVT cam, also has no AFM, makes +80 rwhp. The company's top VVT cam with AFM makes +60 rwhp.

I'm thinking about it. I have one of their old ones installed November 2015.

I need to look into these. Will they work for a L76 in a G8 GT? Still want to hop up the wife's car...

I figured that out about 20 or 30 minutes after that post. Thanks for the info though. Much appreciated.

I have same engine as you, fitted VVT and never looked back. Costs about a grand more than cam install, and $200 via PayPal for detailed cam spec complete install instructions and directions for tune. Actual remote tune is $300 extra ![]() HP is (to me) is the least significant benefit moving from the static stock cam, more about torque, thermals and fuel efficiency.

I think I'm getting mixed up here. So the L76 is AFM and DOD. The L99 is DOD and VVT?

Not specifically, I'm the only daft bugger who's pioneered it for GenIV apart from Mast I think. Sort of pushed the parameters out in developing the solution with duration and lift vs PTV and static CR, big piston reliefs, smallest chamber, highest dynamic CR for pump gas and ethanol, keeping AFM active, cam movement for Atkinson, AFM and PE, stuff like that. I could write a book

DoD is the old term for AFM. Technically G8 has AFM as does my Holden. Both have Aussie evolution of the 6.0 GenIV which does not come fitted with VVT. L99 does have AFM and VVT fitted, is simple to retrofit to our car. Or an LS3 / LSA for that matter.
