Thanks...They changed the look of the car so much, just got to get the black lug nuts and finish blacking it out...A little less than $500.00 for the powder coating and the painting of the center caps, beats the hell out of buying a 2nd set...

Weather was 33* this morning. Spun everywhere on the way there. Driving home was a completely different experience. Quiet, smooth and they actually gripped!!!! I can't say how much better this car rides, and I'm not driving on eggshells now. Anyone contemplating this tire do it.
Sounds like a good deal. I hope you washed the salt off when you got home

I actually took it on a dry day before this latest round of snow and mess. It's been sitting in my garage ever since.

Get the BFG's. You won't know the difference between them and the mpss, except your wallet.

i feel exactly the same way. on the street, there is no way you will push the car to the limits (speaking laterally) of either and therefore, you won't know the difference.

Coming across this thread I think has sold me on the BFGs for my ZL1. Weather isn't as much of an issue for me. Obviously, on cold mornings I had to be more careful but never felt in any real danger even at freezing temperatures. What was hurting was the fact that I'm only getting about 12k miles out of the GY so I was looking for a better option.

I can't remember specifically, but I think we got a good 12-14k out of the GY's. Pretty much skated all over the place once the weather got cold enough and we were past the 8k mark.

The GY's also did semi-ok in the wet until about 8k and then I had to put God in control every time I went through a puddle.

How can they perform better than the stock tires, if one doesn't push the car "hard" enough to not notice the difference between all weather tires and the MPSS?

One would think a ZL1 owner would want to get the best grip in good weather he can get for a car like this.

btw. i went up to 110mph in heavy rain on the Goodyears, with not much tread depth left on the rear. Also drove the car on back roads at 30°F no problem, was aware of the road conditions, but not even that cautious.

This thread is in most part referring to DD cars, that the owners want a better option for replacement tires with A/S capability...You live in Germany and have a roadway that is built perfectly for speed, here it is not the same...These tires give great traction year around and in any weather condition and have a longer life than the stock tires or any other summer only tire...Again the design of your roadway is built to drain the water, making it safer to operate at higher speeds than our roadways, we may have puddles on the roadway, where you have a slight mist...And anyone that owns one of our cars will tell you that the summer tires should not be driven at 30*F, for which they were not designed...So you keep on pushing them to the limit and their going to fail, it will be to late to tell you that "we told you so" so with that being said I hope your insurance policies are paid up!!!

It's not like a tire is going to "fail" like a mechanical part when it breaks. It will stop sticking as well as it used to, a decent driver should be able to feel them sliding around a little more than they used to. It's not like one day they're perfect and the next they don't work at all. I'm not sure what you're getting at by saying you told him so. Seems a little harsh, like you're taking it personally. The OP started a thread for people's ideas and opinions. Snickers just offered his.

I'm only considering them for DD, want to eventually get another set of wheels for track tires. Anyone know where I can buy the BFG's? Local Discount Tire doesn't have an ETA and Tire Rack is sold out also with no ETA.

You are far from our side of Texas, but my local tire shop (Tires By Design) got me these tires the same day. I also believe they keep them in stock. You could call them and see if they will direct ship them to you... (281) 487-2028 ask for Timmy
