Yes, post pics when you get a chance.

I need to do the clay bar/wax, window tint as well..
Yes, I definitely recommend the clay bar
And seeing the results and difference it makes in the paint is worth it...I'm ready to tackle my black truck with it next.

Pics to come...

I'm having the windows tinted this afternoon as well so I'll post some pics after.

Thanks, I totally agree! I'm actually having the following done in a few weeks...it's a "track package" that a local installer does.

Full Hood, Full Fenders, Mirrors, Flares, Bumper, Grille and Lights -
Impact area, Roof top and pillars

Nice!

I have a question; im talking to a dealer now in texas and the only thing that is making hesistate and back off on a deal is the shipping. I live in upstate NY so it would be sight unseen, not driven used CPO car delivered.

Questions- which shipping company you use and cost? Also how was the paperwork communicated and shared between you and dealer?

Sweet ride and i hope to be in one before the summer!

I know you're not asking me but I can chime in. Did the exact thing as well. CPO, texas dealer, I live in Michigan and got is shipped sight unseen. My brother could have gone and looked for me but the dealer had pretty good pics online I would have spotted something.

It was easy really, settled on a price over the phone..they overnighted me papers I signed them and overnighted them back. The biggest hassle was Michigan requires a "bill of sale" and the contract wasnt good enough, so I had to get them to fax me a "bill of sale" and all was good. I used Reliable carriers, expensive but soooo worth it. We use them at GM so I have seen the kind of care that is given. These dudes are always used by Barrett jackson and the like too. Enclosed transporter and the works treatment, the driver(s) take huge care of the cars, and chances are there will be something else fancy onboard to look at, mine had a C2 stingray on it. The biggest hangup with out of state is the taxes, NY will want theirs. Be sure to check your local laws, but most states will allow the selling state to roll the taxes into your bill. SO when you go to the DMV you show proof on the contract that the charged taxes are indeed NY taxes and not TX. I had to seriously draw it out for the lady here and do the multiplication for her to prove it was MI tax and not TX tax.

All in all, it was easy...

Edit: here is my thread. I made the phone call on my birthday Feb 4th-landed in MI the 14th. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=483688

Thanks for the information. I'm still a little turned off on the idea to pay another $1500 for shipping. In NY we get crushed on taxes- 8%.

I actually just sent an email to my local GM dealer (pretty big and lots of sports cars) to ask if they can trade or transfer CPO cars from other GM dealers. Anyone know if this is possible? I also told them what exactly i'm looking for and price. I feel like im running out of time in finding 5gen's..PRESSURE is on!

thanks!

According to Auto Trader there are a few new ones (2 white, red) within 200 miles of Manhattan (not sure where you are in NY or color you are seeking...). The numbers (9 new total on AT) are dwindling, but unless you absolutely want to buy new, there will be good deals to be had on used for a while.

Dealers can trade cars but I think cars that are 2 production year models or more are off the table. I'm sure the dealer sitting on the car would love it but they would basically have to wholesale it at this point. Inventory has been paid for, not on commission from GM.

If you want a new Z/28 at this point your gonna have to go get it where it is.

Jump on an airplane and go get it if you don't want to pay a shipper.

My transaction process was pretty similar. As a few others have said, at this point there's no dealer trading and numbers are dwindling fast. Four months ago there were a little over 100 for sale and now it's down to the low 60's. Hopefully you find what you are looking for soon. Best of luck!

I think a z28 is off the table at this point..I have really made my decision and going for 5gen 1le. Even so, its proving to be just as hard to find in my area.

With a 8-1/2 month old and no family near by to help, I cant bring myself to leave my wife with the little guy to travel somewhere to pick up a toy. lol

With the 2 model year or older rule when trading- is it up to the selling dealer to let it go at wholesale?

thanks!

Have him do halfway down the doors on each side from the front clip to the rear as well. I used Xpel Ultimate and 1 year later I have zero damage to the car from rocks of any sort. Don't forge the splitter or the side effects, or the front of the spoiler.
Just saying, there are folks who went other ways and have damage, its a cheap insurance to keep your car looking good. And it glistens.
