Too bad the Camaro SS can't hit the scale @ 3700 lbs...
Your Math is wrong BTW
Weight really doesn't have that much effect on fuel economy, especially the couple hundred pounds you're talking about in a two ton car.

I actually don't like packages for accessories it would be nice if we could select option one by one which is highly unlikely but that way you could get the important stuff and the rest you can do the customize yourself the way you want to with after market product.

Pricing is really all I'm concerned with at the moment. As someone over at Jalopnik stated: with the right price this car will be epic, with the wrong price it will be epic fail.

okay...so i guess it doesn't take that long for these to go down the conveyor to get assembled. just seemed to me like it was awfully late to begin production on a car that comes out Q1 of '09.

i was scared there for a minute.

how long would you say, the dealerships have a few different options in stock? still Q1? i can't wait to test drive it. i won't be getting mine until probably 9 or 10 of '09.

They might be right on that.

As in the leather seats, I'm in Chicago... no worries here.

Now you HAVE to have RS/SS package to get halos/spoiler/ and rim package....yeaaa thats going to be pushin 35k easy.

I am one of the minority who never gripes, but this is a little upsetting....
I know what you mean.. I think with the rs and leather package this car will be in the 40's. I don't care for leather seats but I like the ambient light, I don't care for the spoiler or 20inch rims but I want hid and hud at the end of 2009 . looks like i'll wait till 2010 to get one. I just have a feeling gm is going to shoot themselves in the foot.

i've never heard of this before. weight is always a factor.

i'm looking at the Ford GT's now for a comparison, and I can see that these maro's are quite a bit heavier.

compare the 2008 deluxe GT at 3500 vs the SS @ 3860. Sorry but 360 pounds is a big difference. but with the SS having 122 more HP...it shouldn't matter putting a 422 HP 'maro against a 300 HP GT...even if you have a 360 lbs passenger. or two 180's

in Canada you would definitely need heated seats and leather, leather seats gives the car elegance. but Canadian dealers rip people off while the money in the US and Canada is the same every American cost alot more in canada. when Canadian $ was 10cents stronger per $1 than the US they would sell American cars with 10, to 15,000 higher Canadian prices, complete rip off, I think they've lowered the prices a bit but still CANADIANS pay much more. that sucks

EXACTLY..I am now essentially forced into buying an interior and exterior upgrade to get a few toys?...

As much as I am a chevy man...this is the ONE thing Ford does right allowing you to pick and choose things such as HIDs/spoilers/rim packages..that GM and the build programs online fail. It pains me to say that, because I am not a whiner and I love Chevy.....but this is disappointing.

So does this mean I can order my car in January? When would the expected arrival for a custom order be?
