TUNEING DAY
My warranty period is fast approaching and I plan to retire my Range device. Besides disabling the AFM what performance gains can I expect from a tune? are there different options with getting a tune or is it one size fits all. Car is stock except for the mufflers that have been replaced with a straight resonator pipe.

I just contacted Tampa Tuning today, I'm wondering the same thing. Even with mild horsepower gains I think the drivability alone will be worth it. First thing to go is AFM!!! My 2007 Avalanche had it and I loved it, totally seamless, the only way you could tell was the info center told me V8 mode or V4 mode in real time. The Camaro's is aweful! Not sure how GM screwed that up but it's an easy enough fix.

we seem to have the same taste I too have a 07 Avalanche and you cant even tell when the AFM kicks in. I have almost 150 k on it and it`s been the best truck I`ve every owned. I don't know what GM did but like you said they screwed it up.

I sold that Avalanche with 187k on it and looked and ran like brand new, never even needed a wheel align, best truck I've ever had. We have good taste.

With a L99 you are going to experience your car like you did the first you drove it. A tune makes an automatic car into a completely new animal! If you are now, or ever plan on being married you should have your tuner tune a "wife mode" into your transmission tune so that she will still ride with you on occasion. My "wife mode" is similar to stock shifting, but "M" is hard shifting and will bark the tires on the 2-3 shift at 60mph. As for gains, between the first and last pull I gained 20rwhp if I remember right. It's amazing what a tune will do for a car!
