Emailed the company and they're US based and said it isn't the oversized "double din."

At the same time, the picture with the tape measure looks a bit smaller than the listed dimensions for a double din.

Here's the email they sent me:
"
Thanks for your interest in our AVIN unit.

The 6.95" model is a true double din size.

Panel size: 178mm x 100mm"

That's the same exact size as my Chinese Android unit that won't fit. The opening for the radio on the PAC kits is less than 178x100. The faceplate of the radio needs to be slightly smaller than the opening so any buttons and/or knobs aren't blocked.

I was under the impression that the Chinese units weren't actually 178x100 .

Worst comes to worst, I'll just return the head unit or trim the panel it it's only a small amount.

I think they're all 178x100. Every one of them I've researched into is that size, including the one I put in my Suburban.

Because of the design of the PAC kit, you can't trim it to make the opening larger.

Have you actually measured your HU? I keep reading that most are listed as 178x100, but they're not actually 178x100.

Just curious if you're going off specs or actually measured it.

They AVIN rep said the bezel/face is 178x100 and the body is a bit smaller.

It looks like from the pics on page three you could file the lip down, which would give about 178x100, which it what the PAC tech said to to for Android units.

It looks like it's about 174x98 opening and the lip is about 2.5MM each side, so you can remove 5mm L and W for new dimensions of 179x103

I was a little irritated at first due to the tight fit. But, really happy now it is. I always hate the look of trim rings and with the PAC kit, the original stereo trim ring is not needed, so it fits like a oem look. It does take a few times in and out to fit perfect, but end result is a oem look. Would be nice if they just sold the face and HVAC connector for people like me who had the metra kit already, so I didn't need anything else that adds to the cost. But this kit is great, I have zero complaints and the LEDs in the face match the factory colors perfect. Even people who are not car fanatics or car stereo people have commented on how much better it looks. I didn't install the original metra kit, was in car when I bought my used ss. Actually, the entire sound system was done before I bought my ss, but not loving the Kenwood excelon front 6.5s and 6x9? Speakers in car, the Kenwood amps are great, but may change out the speakers for some front components. May do a different sub box also, original owner had the trunk custom done with box on each side, custom floor with amp cutouts to show off the 2 amps, but the Kenwood shallow Mount 12s on each side could not handle the power great and I blew one, so I did 2 12 inch mtx shallow mounts and they have done good. But, a shallow mount 12, sounds more like a good 8 or lower quality 10. My 02 z28 had 2 10 inch Memphis audio sub's in a ******** flip box and they hit really hard and sounded tight. I was using a old school mtx 2150x amp that has less power than the Kenwood amp I have now. So I want to switch to a new box and reg sub's, not shallow. I hate to mess the custom setup in trunk since it looks like a show system, but want deeper, tighter, louder bass.

Question guys, I am replacing all the factory speakers, and installing this kit, do I still need to use the FARK kit with this? Im currently running an aftermarket amp to the factory BA system, and a single 12W7 with a separate amp.

Transferred the plate & put my '15 1LS back on the road this week after a busy winter.
Feels good to be back behind the wheel.

Haven't been on the forum much since last fall, and this morning was the first time I saw this PAC kit & I already have a tracking number.

Trying to decide on a new head unit, and was wondering for those who have installed the kit, is it better to have a head unit with the buttons along the bottom or on the left side?
It looks like in the pics that H.U.'s with the buttons on the left may be recessed quite a ways from the front of the bezel.

Just wondering if it may be an issue with the buttons on the left.

Thx.

I finally got the $20 camera from china in, snaps into one of the license plate lights. I like it, looks oem and really good color. Here are some pics. Only issue was the led in the camera for the license plate is bright white, so will need to get a led bulb to match the other license plate light.

Thanks for the reply. From that angle, it doesn't look as recessed as I thought it would be.
Looks good.

I have the 8100. Yes, I believe USB 2 is for android, 1 for Apple.
