New to me 2010 Camaro SS

Hi All,

I just bought a new (to me) 2010 Camaro SS and after driving it for a couple days, I'm noticing some things just don't work on it. Nothing major, but things that I feel should be working when purchasing a used vehicle.
  • I only got 1 keyfob, and will be ordering another, however on the one I do have, only the lock/unlock buttons work. The remote start, trunk, and panic buttons do not work at all.
  • The backup sensors do not work at all. I can some within an inch of an object and hear no beeps or anything of the sort.
  • The rear speakers have very low volume. If I adjust the fader to only play from the rear speakers, I have to turn the volume all the way up to 45 in order to BARELY hear the radio!
  • Inside the trunk (the button on the driver door does work), there is a musty smell, and the carpeting feels slightly damp. I pulled that up and inspected the area where the spare tire would go (although there is only a flat repair kit), and could see there was dirt/sand at the bottom.
  • The driver side fog light is burned out. (I know, easy fix...)
  • The rear brakes squeak when applied. Not sure if they do the same while driving normally (Flowmaster exhaust kinda drowns out the noise!)
  • The glow line in the doors seems a bit dim. (My son had a 2011 Camaro (which was involved in an accident and totalled), and that door glow was much brighter.) I checked the interior light dimming knob/button and it's as bright as it gets.
  • Bank 2 Sensor 2 (O2 sensor) needs to be replaced - the dealer will be replacing this.

Is there anything to check for on the speaker issue, the trunk dampness, or the door glow issue? Also, the backup sensors is something I would like to get working again, as well as the keyfob issues. Would reprogramming the FOB work? How would I do this? I have read the threads on how to program a new FOB, but haven't seen anything on re-programming one that's already programmed.

Thanks in advance!

Remote start will not function if there is trouble code present.

As far as the trunk remote and the back up sensors, they could be related, and could be related to the signs of water intrusion in the trunk. Which could also effect the speaker performance, come to think of it. Did all of these functions operate when you inspected the car before purchase?

Didn't think to check them actually. I know it's basically my fault for not checking, but I'm just wondering if this is a common issue or not, and whether or not it's something I can fix myself inexpensively or have to go through the extended warranty (after $100 deductible).

If you want the remote start to work ... you must reset all the error codes, the rest can be fixed step by step the most important thing that the engine is working well and the oil level is stable.

The musty smelling trunk with sand in it tells me the car may have been in a flood or water of some sort. On the key fob, did you hit the lock button twice then the remote start button to get it to start?

I cleared the O2 sensor code (think it was P0447), and it hasn't come back, so that's a good sign.

It's possible there's still some codes that my code reader isn't picking up. Had a similar issue on a previous vehicle I owned (dealer saw a bunch of codes that my reader didn't/couldn't pick up).

the TechII's that shops use are far more advanced than the typical code reader, that's why they cost in the four digit range. ECM's store history codes, codes that are no longer active. They will go away after x amount of drive cycles with no faults being read by sensors. I'm not positive, but I don't think a history code is going to prevent remote start from activating. On my Cadillac, I had to push the lock button twice then press and hold the remote start button.

Sounds like the car may be a flood damaged vehicle.
Or, Do you have a sunroof. if so the drain line may have come undone and is wetting the trunk.

If the car was sitting in water, that would explain some of it.

Yes, it does have a sunroof... where can I find the drain line? Easy to fix?

oh that's easy to find, the tubes have a tendency on some to get disconnected, look in the trunk and look at the area between the speaker and trunk opening, closer to the edge corner of the opening, may have to peel back panel a bit. its easy to reconnect if that is it.

ok, looked in the trunk (it got wet again yesterday due to rain), and the driver's side tube was disconnected!

I reconnected it and also checked the passenger side, and they both feel "loose", like they will come apart again. Should it feel tight, or is there something to make them stay connected?
