Well, that would vary depending on a lot of factors.

Most importantly, how does your A/C or vented air smell?

Do you smoke in your car? Pets go for rides? Lots of stinky air fresheners? Part-time old lady taxi?

You probably see where I'm going with this.

First Engine Oil Change After
Every 40 000 km/25,000 Mi
. Passenger compartment
air filter replacement (or every
24 months, whichever occurs
first). More frequent replacement
may be needed if you drive
in areas with heavy traffic,
areas with poor air quality,
or areas with high dust levels.
Replacement may also be
needed if you notice reduced
air flow, windows fogging up,
or odors. Your dealer can help
you determine when it is the
right time to replace the filter.

If you don't have an owner's manual Chevy has them on their web site.

Hey guys,

Changed mine for the 1st time and here are my tips.

When reinserting the cowl put the left side under the foam thing first then on the top left where there is the plastic piece that fits over the bottom of the windshield get that over the bottom of the windshield and the rubber area of the cowl fits in between the panels (left side panel and the windshield support panel). Then pop the top into the groove in the top start with the right side first (but honestly it is pretty much in there so just pop it in and go down the rest of the side not sure you got to start on a particular side). Then I noticed it was still a hair off but figured it was because I haven't taken it off before, but no you have to firmly press down on the area on top that went in the groove for it to go in good and be perfectly flush and I assume sealed from water getting in. Wish I could do the picture thing and a write up but I don't own a camera or even smartphone. I may borrow one because I did it about 10 times and after the 1st or second one it took about minute or two to reinsert the cowl. Prior comment helped make it easier as well.

BTW, my car is a 2015 and has about 21K miles I live in AZ and it needed changed! Also I put in the oem ac delco one p/n CF178 got it from amazon for about $25.

Thanks,
Kevin

Not meaning to thread jack but, i put also a k&n one. It didn't state what direction airflow for the filter. Ever since installed 2 days ago. I can still smell the filter since it is "oiled"

thanks!

I do not remember if there is a foam gasket in the k&n like the original see pic. Have a look and if you want flip it...no issues here with any smell

So I own a 2010 with 8000 miles, never been driven off pavement or in the rain. I've never looked at this filter, but have a hard time believing it would need changed. Still smells like a new car.

Takes 5 minutes to look. You never know if any rodents have found that spot of the car.

If you replace it, don't just go with the cheapest ones out there. It is recommended to get ones with activated carbon which helps reduce the musty smells these cars can get

Mine doesn't show air flow direction either. So i'm thinking it probably doesn't matter much with the K&N .
