Exhaust and high flow cats

Hey guys! I have my 2014 LFX v6 camaro that I'm modding and tuning. I've just started on the exhaust but before I ordered parts I wanted to ask a few questions. I'm definitely running an SLP loumouth exhaust with an X pipe but also wanted to install some high flow cats. (also running it with cold air intake, 100 shot of nitrous and a ported throttle body and vetisse throttle controller). I figured it would give a nice mean growl. My main issue is that the high flow cats have a tendency to cause the damn check engine light to come on. Is there any way to install high flow cats without causing it to come on? Is there a certain high flow cat that can bypass this or is that something I will just have to buck up and deal with a check engine light? Any help on the kind of high flow cats you would recommend would be greatly appreciated!

Which high-flow cats are you looking to get? From what I've read the Solo Performance cats don't cause the light to come on, but I can't say from experience.

I've had my ARH HFCs since November of last year with no CEL. I used these o2 extenders:

I have solo high flow cats . I did have a check engine light come on. At least twice I think Then had my overkill tune done. Which cleared the light up and been good every since .
Judging by what you are adding or going to add. You will need a tune to make it all flow nicely .

I had good results from the O2 extenders on a different car I owned. Haven't tried them on the Camaro.

I've been looking at alot of high flow cats but didn't know what to choose or to go for specifically. I will look into solo performance! Thanks for the advice!

Your the second person to recommend those to me lol. They sound awesome. And I was thinking the exact same thing on the tune as well. I've had the the tuned before but it will Probly need to be redone after this modification.

I've heard of O2 extenders but never did much digging in them. Thanks for the info I will have to do some real digging now and see if it's worth the buck to get those and try it out (if it works) or just stick with re tuning the vehicle. Thanks man!

No worries. You can't go wrong with HFCs. You are going to love the sound and feel!

If you do go with solo good thing is they already come with the extenders. If you going to put them on yourself or have a shop . Put them on for you. Remember the driver side is easy to take off and put on. The passenger side is a pain in the A@$ !! To get off and put on.

I'm definatley having a custom install from a muffler shop in my town. I would rather have them out up with it than me on the cats lol. Plus their work is all warranties so if they mess it up They pay for it!

But damn are those Solo high flow cats expensive!

Absolutely makes sense! I'm re thinking the muffler and thinking of going with Jones racing performance mufflers (doesn't sound as ricey) so with all the options you guys have given me on the high flow cats I'm shure i will love the sound! That's mainly what I'm looking for.

The V6 on these camaros just doesn't have anything boast worthy in stock sound! What i was really disappointed with on the lfx engine is the fact that you can't put headers on them (didn't realize that about the engine until I bought it, bad research on my end) but I guess it has its ups with how GM designed it. I can always go for a custom cam
