FAST lsxr intake... intake runners blown apart 24psi
Just another FAST intake LSXR with issues on boosted application. They say they are good to 30psi... but at 24psi mine had two runners blown apart and every seal on the runners injested 30% of the seal....
Fixable but I called fast and they said I needed to buy the full runner set for like $370..... and I couldnt just get two.... they said they would call me back as they were going to check.... been four days with no call back.. FYi... will have a LS7 lsxr intake for sale after I buy the damn runners... or I will sell at a discount if someone wants to epoxy them or something... I wouldnt do the FAST for anything over 18psi... guessing... but surely no where near 24psi... I have heard of a couple going at the 24psi level... its also funny everybody has heard of it.... but FAST guys say they have never heard of any issues... lol... just wanted to add to the list of blown runners...

I looked at sheet metal intakes. You can pay anywhere from $600 - $5000 for one. Even if price didn't matter (because I considered one that was $4500), I haven't found anyone that can honestly tell me that a sheet metal intake will perform admirably at 1200 rwhp, however the stock LS3 manifold (ugly as it is) will.

The sheet metal intakes certainly wont restrict top end power, but may well have different characteristics throughout the rpm range vs other intakes.
Quality would concern me though with some of the cheaper ones, but if nothing else most of them do look cool. How exactly did the runners fail ? As they are inside the plenum, boost itself shouldnt really affect them ? As they dont see any pressure differential ? |

not to thread jack but we just came out with an intake manifold that'll hold pretty much whatever you can throw at it. Its cast aluminum and fits under a 5th gens hood without having to cut anything.

That looks a little like what Frankenstein as been advertising lately ?
Huge price though, no ( public ) dyno proof of performance yet either. |

This is Cast aluminum, lists for $1525 and works with most cold air intakes. It has been on the dyno but third party results will be in soon

How high is this manifold past the fuel rails? I have a UPP TT im looking for a manifold that will fit under my crossover pipe.

its as high as possible while still fitting under a stock hood. In your case you would have to run your passenger piping a different route.

Very interesting at cast as opposed to a CNC piece, that certainly brings the price down ( FRH's was a CNC at over double that price )
Any cathedral ports ? An intake like that with the lower profile, would have a much bigger market than a lot of the designs out there, and a much more sensible price point too ! |

An offering without the lowered section at the back might be good too, as not all would want that. But clearly it's there for a reason. Any details of the internals ? |
