Cat back exhaust- worth waiting longer?

So still waiting on Flowmaster to come up with an exhaust...so far Corsa seems like the best sound, but very minimal gains. Anyone finding anything better for gains? I was gonna wait till next spring but I see they are putting a Corsa group buy together...any thoughts?

Go for the SOLO PERFORMANCE Mach X Cat Back. If the group buy gets to 20% it will be $600 shipped to your door..........You cannot go wrong. it is an amazing system, read the thread!

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42318

I have had mine for over a month and I love starting her up and ripping down the road. It is Exotic Performance at it's best. WIth it's unique X Resonator and straight out mirrored stainless pipes, this system is rockin'.

So you have an SS but you're posting that it sounds awesome in a V6 thread?

Sorry, I was a bit short on my last post. The V6 is coming out very soon, it is in the Thread. These guys have a ton of experience with every engine type imaginable. They do awesome custom work on every and all size engines, and have the best resonator tone out there (in my opinion). They have done amazing work in the SKY/Solstice community and made many of us happy over there.

Here is a clip of a Inline 4 Turbo:

I'm still waiting on the kit from Flowmaster. They said that they ended up designing a new muffler for the v6 Camaro and it would be available as part of an axle back kit sometime around Oct. 1st. Guess we'll see how it sounds once it comes out.

If I don't like the sound or price of the Flowmaster, I'll probably just go with this (almost cat-back) Magnaflow setup: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?p=779799

Just out of curiosity, why would you not consider the SOLO??

Magnaflow, which I have on my SKY, Has a tendency to Drone on the highway. I bought it before SOLO released their kit for the SKY. I will replace my Magnaflow with the SOLO one day when I have some extra cash, every one that has one on the SKY loves it.

My plan is to wait for the solo cat-back, depending on how it sounds. MBRP is my first choice based on sound -- but if solo sounds anything near it, the $$ savings would be very nice.
A lot of the cat backs are sounding pretty close, price will be my deciding factor.

Makes sense to me, and SOLO will not let you down. They care and will spend the time and money to get it right.

For me, it comes down to price vs. sound. I actually prefer the Corsa setup right now but no way am I willing to pay that much just to change the sound of my exhaust. So far, no one has shown more than a 5hp gain from ripping out the stock setup and replacing it with something else, regardless of how much it cost.

I'm sure the SOLO will sound good but at what cost?

As for the drone on the Magnaflow, I'm not too worried about it. I've owned quite a few V8 vehicles with aftermarket and stock exhausts and drone doesn't really bother me. At least I'll hear something, unlike the too-quiet stock exhaust on my car.

Our kit for the V6 will be in the same price range as the Mach-X, and we will be running a group buy on it. This can mean a pretty substantial discount if it sells like the Mach-X is currently. The V6 is scheduled to come in tomorrow for fabrication of the kit. The gentleman who is letting us use his car will be there to give his opinion as a Camaro owner also, and we have lots of our own product to test on it in order to get the absolute best sound and performance. We have had a ton of emails regarding a V6 kit, and we are going to deliver!! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me at 516-655-9002.

Steve

At what cost??? I am not sure what you are asking. Are you thinking the SOLO could rob PERFORMANCE?? There is no way. The SOLO on the V6 (Like the V8) will be opening up the FLOW of the stock exhaust quite a bit.

I can tell you now, as a Avid Car lover and a SOLO customer, I have not gotten a dyno done because I was never a "Numbers" guy. I took my car to SOLO because of the reputation they have in the SKY/Solstice community, of which I am also a part of. Their reputation is that of high end system with top gains and that is 4 cylinder turbo's. Their reputation as a company and the only "Exhaust Only" shop in North America left, is also one of quality and helping the customer.

When I changed out the exhaust and put in the Mach X on my SS, I felt SUBSTANTIAL power gain. My guess, between 15-20HP. Now that is on a 426HP motor. The v6 with 300HP, I have to guess you can see from 5-10HP. But the bigger difference is the added torque I can feel, which is very noticeable even in 6th gear. And the faster throttle response, is very noticeable.

I gave SOLO a chance to work on my Camaro and I am VERY happy with the Sound, Performance, and at the price they bring their kit to market, it is a no brainer. Read the thread and see if you can trust your fellow Camaro 5 brothers. I am spreading the word for them because they surpassed my expectations. And with their systems being Mandrel Bent and hand assembled here in North America by guys I met, I know I am getting a quality HAND BUILT system, instead of a mass produced machine built system.

Just my 2 cents. Wether V8 or V6, quality is quality and SOLO gets my vote.
