Dodge Demon priced at ~$85k

https://www.autoevolution.com/news/2...al-118048.html

I know they are completely different animals, but I'll take a ZL1 1LE for $70k instead. Thanks, but no thanks. The outdated, 9 year old, Challenger platform has it's best days behind it.

I think it's priced for the older crowd with pockets that aren't afraid to buy a "collector". Certainly a few of these will see the track regularly, but I'm willing to bet a good chunk of them won't see more than a couple hundred miles in their lifetime.

It's not too far off from what I expected the price to be around for a limited run special edition. I wouldn't buy it personally but I bet they sell a bunch of em.

That outdated Platform may only have one or 2 years left but it is outselling the brand new Camaro

Problem is the ZL1-1LE will become the 14/15 Z28, they will sit on the lots collecting dust until Chevy is forced to offer 20% discounts thus killing used values. The Demon on the other hand will most likely be sold out quickly forcing Dodge to increase build numbers. So yes this 9-yro Challenger is doing just fine

Yes, the 6th Gen isn't everyone's cup of tea (myself included). The 5th Gen was such a huge success and the current iteration of the Camaro just isn't bringing the same excitement. We shall see what becomes of the forthcoming refresh and a potential 7th Gen.

Looking at this graph, I only see two small spans where the Challenger edged the Camaro over the past ~8 years. April-June of '16 and February of '17. Drive what you like, like what you drive!

~400-500 ZL1 1LE's will be produced per year (per Becky Rodgers on the forum if I'm not mistaken). I'm certain they can find a home for them. We will see.

UP till the end of Mach Challenger had sold sightly more cars than the Camaro, now this is a brand new platform against one that really has not changed since 08. Last year Camaro sold 8k more than the Challenger and 32k less than the Mustang. I really can't see how that is a win for GM to have a new platform competing neck and neck with a soon to be 10 year old one.

I agree 100%. As I stated previously, the 6th Gen just isn't delivering the goods. IMHO, people that wanted a Camaro, went out and bought a 5th Gen and are very pleased with the car. They see no reason to shell out money for the new platform, especially when the price skyrocketed like it has. Heck, when I bought my car brand new, the sticker was ~$44k. For a 2017 2SS convertible, the prices are north of $50k...some closer to $55k! That'll turn a lot of people off. Who knows.

In other words, Challanger had one good month. Even when you consider the high percentage of Challenger rental car sales, the Camaro still out sells it while getting $3,106 more per sale.

Camaro: 2%
Challenger: 36%

When you then look at retail sales YTD, the Mustang maintains a narrow lead.

Mustang: 15,501
Camaro: 14,992
Challenger: 10,064

Shhhhh. Dodge fanboys will have to take a break fixing their transmissions to come on here and defend themselves.

I'd take a 750hp 2017 ZR1 over anything offered by GM, Ford, or Chrysler.

Try and spin it any way you want the truth is the 6th gen is a DOG. It has a great drive-line and is the best that they have had in handling but the looks of the car are love or hate and it is even harder to see out of.
