I've never heard of the 2 year floor financing. Very good to know! Two people at the dealership told me the car has been there for 2 years and they are ready for it to go. I'll let you guys know how it goes. I may be laughed out of the dealership when I offer and signing papers a month later.

GM needs to fix its rapidly declining car values, otherwise GM vehicles will never be taken seriously in the collector car market.

Case in point a direct competitor the GT350R. They are going to produce 1k 17 MY R's, bumping the three year total to around the same as Z/28. If you put an exhaustive effort in, you might secure one for 10k ADM,if your lucky. Used one's are usually 15k over window, ordered cars usually take a year to build and hope the dealer doesn't sell it out from under you. That's called brand loyal rabid enthusiasm, something the general never got the memo on.

The hysteria around GT350s (R and non R) is insane. Prices are out the roof on new and used. The Shelby name tag helps, but you are correct re: brand loyalty and they have it in spades .... especially w/ the Mustang.

Prolly a safe bet there won't be any R's sitting on dealer lots with dry rotted Cups in three years..and the irony is the Z is a better track car.

I think what a Z/28 sells for today and what it will sell for 30 years from now are unrelated. The 5th gen Z/28 will certainly be a collector car. I'd take the Z/28 without a/c on the hottest day in hell over any mustang on the market. Give it some time for supply to dwindle over the next 30 years and a mint Z/28 will be a golden unicorn.

Disclaimer about the cars condition: it's been sitting on their lot for 2 years and has 14 nasty door dings and half took off chips of paint. There's etching in the clear coat from a quarter sized bird dropping, random light scratches all over the car, swirl in the paint, and damage to the front splitter. In 2 years time, I'm certain the interior shows light wear especially on the Alcantara.

Also, the Trofeo's look really cracked from sitting through winters. The dealer claimed he can get them replaced at no charge under warranty. I previously mentioned I have OEM Z28 wheels with tires and would rather take the discount to buy the car as-is than have new Trofeo's. Is he full of it or can dealers really get these replaced at no expense from cracking?
They are out there and some may be in better shape.

I was at Reliable Chevrolet in Richardson (just north of downtown Dallas) a week and a half ago, saw a black one for sale there.

Looked to be in great condition...

No question in 20-30 years they will be uber rare with only 1,802 produced - take out at least a few hundred the get totaled or used up. You end up with a small supply. However you also end up with a Niche product, that is great on the track and on a mountain road, but no so much on the street. So for a fun weekend car they will be sought after, but so will the GT4, GT350/R etc. This era is producing some incredible cars, so it will leave some great options for those interested down the road.

Hope you are right and we still have the Z in the garage, albeit with some miles on it that produced lots of smiles!

The Z/28 has a few things going for it that have proven to increase value in the past, but, it will take a long, long time, so, enjoy it now.

1. Exclusivity - few made
2. Exclusive, famous, NA pushrod, 427, hand built race motor, Dry sump
3. Stick only
4. The year camaro that looks the closest to the 1969 Camaro, especially the rear tail lights.
5. "Track car only" issues will fade away, just like they have on the 69 Z/28s - and become more of a "cool" thing ... Put street tires on a AC/Stereo Z/28 and it is just a lowered street car with carbon ceramic brakes and go fast goodies. The ride is great, the only issue I see from driving mine every day is going up and down driveways sideways.

Just an update on this Z/28 that's sitting at Pohanka Chevrolet in Chantilly, VA and a friendly buyers beware. I drive by the dealership every week and didn't see it for a couple but I did see it on the lot today. They had it in the body shop to fix some of the many cosmetic issues. The front splitter has been repainted, about 15 door dings corrected (but if you look closely you can still see waves on the panels), and I'm guessing some touch up paint was put over the door ding paint chips on the body line. I didn't get a close enough look to see if the quarter sized damage to the clear coat from bird droppings was corrected in the body shop. I decided not to buy this car because the condition is truly poor for a new car. For those in the market, be aware they are probably looking to sell this online and ship it to the buyer. They had 2 Z/28's and that's how they sold the other.

I looked at a Z/28 there a while back, they wanted 10k over sticker then. Ridiculous.
