2012 SS Power Reduced/shut off
Hola Amigos!
I'm currently assigned in a foreign country and I'm having issues with my 2012 2SS A6. At highway speeds or in acceleration, I get "power reduced" and engine shutoff. YES. SHUTOFF. The code states to service the stabilitrac. The only thing I can do is pullover, unplug the battery, and head back home. Luckily it hasn't happened while out on a date! I know I've seen several threads with issues like this, but I can't find one with the solution. Can anyone shed some light? The only mods I have are K&N CAI and a Bo White ported throttle body. Thanks all! |

Do you have a code reader that you can plug in the next time it happens to see if it is showing any codes and are you the original and only owner of the car or did you pick it up used.

And i would check all the connections for the cai to make sure it isn't sucking air from a loose connection. Do you still have the stock throttle body. I have never heard of one of Bo's being bad but if it keeps happening i would go back to the stock throttle body and see if happens after you go back to stock. Have seen that some 5th gens don't like aftermarket products for some reason while countless others have the same aftermarket products with zero issues.

My next question is there a chevrolet or gm dealer near your location, if you keep havivg issues with the car and can't figure it out i would take it to them and have them scan it for codes and try to diagnose what might be the problem. Sorry that is all the things i can think of to suggest, hope you get the issue resolved and can enjoy your car without any gremlins popping up. Oh and one lat thing don't know if it is still the orginal battery in your car but have that checked also. Bad batteries make them co strange things sometimes.

Thanks,
I bought it new. I replaced the battery a few months ago. No Chevy places nearby. The code came up to the Mass Airflow Sensor. I'm going to put the original TB back in and make sure all the connections on the CAI are good. I'm wondering if it's the throttle position sensor. Putting the original TB should fix that. I can always switch it with Bo's. The other thing I can try is cleaning the MAS, but getting a cleaner here is proving to be difficult...foreign language! Don't want to buy something that ends up damaging a good part! I appreciate your help! |

Good luck getting it straightened out, are you by chance also running a throttle controller on your car ? I have heard of tc's and throttle bodies not playing nice together before. And it could also be either the throttle position sensor or the maf like you are thinking and cleaning the maf probably wouldn't hurt, hope you can find a product that you trust. I would ship you a can myself but not sure if that could be mailec or shipped internationally since it would be considered hazardous cargo probably.
