Factory convertible catback question? LS3 vs L99

Is there any difference between the LS3 and L99 factory OEM SS convertible catback system other than the butterfly valves for the AFM on the L99 system?I'm looking to buy a factory SS convertible catback system, complete in excellent condition.

Never heard of an OEM catback system. I have this for sale in the classified's. Stainless Works muffler delete pipes with 4" polished tips and the Range delete to eliminate the AFM.

OEM=Original Equipment Manufacturer. It is the same term as, the 'factory' catback exhaust system. I have F.I. and have AFM tuned out. I miss the sound and quietness of the factory mufflers, resonator, etc. with my headers and high flow cats. My current Solo catback system is too loud for me and produces 114db's at 4000rpms, which, is about 20db's over the states 95db Max.

Convertibles have a cross member which will require you to install some spacers or washers for most aftermarket exhaust to clear the cross member. There are a few companies that offer a specific system for the verts that will clear that cross member but you can easily make any system work on a vert. I have the Lingenfelter by Corsa system on my vert(which is not a vert specific system), I had to add a few washers for spacers but it bolted up and works just fine.

Yes, I can see and remember my L99 catback had a large box resonator. The LS3 pictured has a H-pipe instead. The bends will be the same, but, I wonder if the large resonator on the L99 makes it quieter and was designed to reduce AFM drone? Or if it has some purpose related to the auto trans. I just don't want to purchase a LS3 system to find out there are clearance problems, or it is much louder than the L99 system. A specific answer would be appreciated. Thanks for your replies.

To be honest the ls3 version is pretty quiet, with lt, and hi flow cats would sound pretty good

The L99 version has a huge suitcase looking resonator compared to the LS3 version. Putting the LS3 exhaust on a L99 may make the car a little louder but everything will mount up fine.

I had the factory catback on the car with all the mods and it sounded good and was quiet on the freeway and street. I got the mod bug and decided to get a aftermarket catback on black Friday last year and have never been satisfied with it. I'm just going back to the factory L99 catback. Thanks for your input.
