Sebring International Raceway, April 30. Running on HPDE 1 for just the second time ever. Keeping up with the big boys in this LFX IPF tuned Camaro! Proof that driving takes skills and balls. Some will drag you in a straight but can't navigate the corners. But in all due respect, all of these guys I was running with were great. We even traded positions as someone would take a cool down lap or wanted to just chill a bit. More details in YouTube description.

Here's a video from last night at a SCCA Track Night in America at Pacific Raceways in Kent, WA. This track has been around a long time and it was great fun to run it again.

Here's a pretty cool video from Pacific Raceways in Kent, WA showing me chasing another car club member in his SWEEET ZL1 Convertible!

Neat. How long is it?

ps. I'm itching to see a 1.xx lateral somewhere.

Pacific Raceways is 2.25 miles long with 9 corners. The track is a ton of fun with the elevation changes and it really favors high-powered cars which is why we were able to just fly past the spec Miatas on the track.

It's very unlikely I'll be able to hit 1.0 lateral G's with my current tires and wheels. While the Nitto NT555G2 is a great tire, I'm only running 245s in front and 275s in back. There's just not enough front end grip to get that last little bit of turn in.

As soon as I can replace my 9" wide front wheels with 10s I'm going to 275s all around. I should easily be able to get 1.0 lateral then.

Back to Road Atlanta last weekend! Here's my best lap at 1.41.27, nearly 3 seconds faster than my previous best. I had a private session with IMSA pro driver Jade Bruford which was awesome. He popped off a 1.41.16 in my car so I was happy I wasn't that far off of his pace with my 1.41.27.

Are you by any chance blipping the throttle on manually-commanded downshifts?

If that question is for me, no, I never manually blip the throttle. My downshifts are usually done while on the brakes and upshifts are usually full throttle. I did have an issue you may have heard that sparked your question in turns 6 & 7 where last year I had no real issues downshifting to 2nd gear before or during turn in to turn 7. This year I was a little quicker in that short straight as I'm getting through turn 6 faster now. That basically caused me to be too fast to shift into 2nd gear due to the computer protections the tranny has, so you probably hear some strange rev sounds there. I eventually stopped trying to shift there all together and just stayed in 3rd. It felt a little sluggish on exit of turn 7 but allowed me a smoother run and launch onto the longest straight on the track which translated to a fraction more speed at the end.

From Summit Point Circuit, Friday At The Track. A few laps, including my fastest lap so far, which is 3.1 seconds faster than I was last September. I still have a ton to learn, but I'm happy with how I did today.

No power mods, no suspension mods. Just a few braking safeguards (ducts, Hawk Street/Race pads, RBF 600 fluid).
