Thanks for sharing. I know we mostly don't care about fuel efficiency or we'd not have bought this car. I am okay @ 12 MPG (combined), but much lower would be pushing it. Am curious if your combined MPG was diminished by much?

Awesome vids. Thanks for sharing! Do you run that bad boy on track only or on the street too? I watched a vid the other day of a 2400 HP Corvette used for drag racing. He was driving it on the highway and the back end broke loose. He cut across 2 lanes before he got it under control. I couldn't believe the way he was driving. I have the impression that isn't your style.

Yeah not much my style... I do drive it on the street but not much... as mentioned before, it's not a lot of fun to cruise around in, and plugs only last for a very short time with street driving, same thing with O2 sensors. Yes, I can literally break the back end loose at any time in any gear.... I have told some that this is a car you drive with complete concentration... Anything other than that and you end up in a ditch backwards at 100 plus mph...

Very interesting re: plugs and sensors. I'll never have to worry about it, but those are things I'd never have known about. Thanks!

One other question ...1/4 mile ET and speed? Or asked another way... will it beat a fully track prepped Demon? :-)

I've run in the tens.... but it's not easy... my gearing and power band are not conducive to 1/4 miles speeds.... I'm at about 60 mph before the power band and gear set match up... bare in mind, this motor makes power from 6,000 - 9,000 rpm... and I have 3.07 gears... In the video I posted, looking out the back of the car... my foot is flat on the floor as soon as I leave the line.... Then I wait... close to 1/8th mile before anything exciting happens.... Therefore I'm at about 60 close to the 1/8th, and 150 plus at the 1/4. I think at the Mile my best was a 157 quarter mile speed.... This is on a non prepped track (old runway) and on DOT tires... from the 1/8th to the 1/4 mile happens incredibly quickly... So, could I beat a Demon in the quarter... no... from a 60 roll... all they would see is taillights disappearing into the tire smoke... I've outrun nitrous boosted Hayabusas <<SP? from a 60 roll.... pretty easily... At 60 mph I'm in 1st gear at about 5900-6000 rpm.... dead set on kill... the Busa will jump me for a second until the boost comes on and then it's over... Their 1/4 mph times are lots quicker, but my speed is higher same at the half mile and I'm way faster at the mile... A good friend of mine runs a lot at the mile on a Busa with nitrous, he is typically 145ish at the 1/4 mile, 185ish at the half and 210 -215 at the mile... I've never seen my car run from the outside of it, so seeing him gives me a perspective of how fast the car accelerates...

As for the plugs and O2 sensors, C-16 is a leaded fuel and we run a very very cold plug.... The foul very quickly....

I get about 9mpg on E85 driving around town. E85 averages about $0.35/gal less than premium here in Houston.

Some is good, more is better, too much is just right.
How much is too much depends upon the individual.

Thanks for the responses.. Looks like Im going with 550 to the wheel.. when thats not enough any longer I'll go 600 and call it a day. If 600 to the wheels isnt enough I'll drive to sea level for a week and get another fix

When I have caught up to the power at each level, and think there isn't much there, I've taken an unsuspecting friend for a ride and that reaffirms that yes, the car is kinda peppy.... I've had grown men act like a spooked cat.... The bonus is the laughs I get....

This confirms my thoughts about the quest for more HP....after a while you grow accustomed to the additional power and it no longer provides that rush, that tremendous sensation, the "holy shit" feeling that you feel initially. I used to think 310 HP was crazy. Now 505 HP, at times doesn't feel like enough. Am sure 800 HP would, at some point, not seem like enough either.

For those of you who track your cars I get the need for more power to remain competitive. For me, 505 HP seems like plenty for street use. I'd love to have 600, 700 or more, but know where that would lead.

Anyway, keep rocking it on the strip..... truly appreciate you and all of the others who've provided really interesting insight!

I think enough HP happens when the car scares you to the point you are ghost white shaking and stop driving that car or sell it as soon as possible. 500hp would be my limit on what I feel safe playing with but it all depends on the car and its set up.
500hp civic scary
500hp Camaro fun and scary
Assuming they have the supporting modifications to support that hp.
I have always been under the yin yang.
Balance and power.
