Just installed the ATAK "rear section" axle-back today. Not nearly as loud as I was hoping. It sounds good, but still too quiet at idle and during "mild" driving. I suppose I'm trying to recreate the awesome sound of my Pontiac Firebird formula that I owned years ago. I'm still not quite there yet.

I would guess that the factory resonators are the thorn in my side right now.

If it is an auto, yes indeed. If it's a 6M, then they don't really do much of anything.

It is an auto. X-pipe added to my shopping list.

Seems like Chevy went way overboard in trying to make this 6.2L quiet.

X-pipe ordered for my L99 with the ATAK axle-back. Hopefully putting it on this weekend. There's a lot mixed opinions it seems, about how annoying the afm gets after an x-pipe install. I purposely want to hear and find out for myself so I can pass along the information from the experience. Computer tune in the future either way, though.

i have them on my ss they sounded good as a cat back but after doing a stroker, head work, cam, LT, and cat delete way toooo loud looking at cats and maybe a couple vibrant resonators.

Ok. So, my 2010 L99 now has a Borla ATAK rear section axle-back, and an x-pipe. Finally, the car sounds like it should. I think people who have the L99 and want a louder, muscle-car sounding SS, should consider the x-pipe as the first upgrade. The borla atak mufflers create a good sound, but for those who are seeking volume, those resonators must go!
I think the car is finally loud enough for me, so I probably don't need headers. But I'm gonna get 'em anyway!

I did Borla attack and x-pipe, sounded AWESOME! Then I did headers and a cam and it was too loud and raspy under acceleration. Idle was awesome. Now I have switched to the s-type and wish there was something in between as these sound great at accel but too weak on idle..

What headers did you put on? My car is loud enough for me at acceleration, for sure. But still idles on the quiet side. I now have an x-pipe, cai, and borla atak. So a similar setup to what you had before your headers and cam endeavor. Did your car idle louder after headers?

I do love the way my L99 sounds right now. Can definitely hear the V8! I guess i'm just somewhat baffled at why my car isn't any louder than it is. I owned an LT1 350 back in the day, and a cat-back alone made that thing sound mean and sinister! So if I add Long tube headers, and this 6.2 still sounds more tame than my old 5.7, I'm gonna be head scratching for sure.

Yes and Yes again. best exhaust imo. quiet when you want it to be and loud when you need it to be. I am adding Kooks LTs to my setup very soon. My neighbors are going to hate me
