Illustrator Camaro

Something I did for my illustrator class a couple weeks ago... I am not the greatest at illustrator artwork but I did my best lol... for some reason the shadow looks brown in the PDF

the assignment was to combine two images in photoshop and then use the pen tool in illustrator to draw it... took me about a combined total of 10 hrs or so

no tablet... I just used my macbook and the pen tool lol I used solids and gradient fills for the color

I was just going to ask how long it took you to do that in Illustrator.
Illustrator CS3, I take it? (Is the drop shadow a transparency? Maybe that is why it is turning to brown in pdf format. If not, it may be the way that you are writing the pdf file in your color options?)

thanks and yeah its CS3... the shadow is just a black fill maybe it was the pdf settings because when I printed it, it came out black

Nice Ryan.

The reason your shadow looks brown next to the background is, you have the shadow at 100% Black, but the Background gradient goes from 0,0,0 RGB to 30% K. When you convert 0,0,0 from RGB to CMYK it is a rich black (all 4 colors).

So in comparison it "looks brown".

Very true, the rich black is 100% of C,M,Y, and K.
Yeah, you should made the pdf CYMK and make the black a 100% black, others at 0% and it should be fine. If it printed black, than without a doubt it is the pdf export setting.
