Gears

So I'm thinking about doing 3.91 gears. Now since I have a 27 inch tire will that be to much? With tire size 285 40 18 and 3.91 gear that put me at 4.15 ratio,is that to much for a 6l80 and 3200 stall?

So a update got my gears installed with my 27 inch tire it's a 4.15 ratio got 100 miles on it so far everything good to go so far I also had the bmr diff bushings in. I can hear a Little noise from that it seems can't wait to get 500 miles change the fluid and see what it does .70 mph is about 2400 rpm

Is that when you command the shift, or when it actually shifts?

just want to make sure you trap in 4th off the limiter.

My calculator shows those speeds at 6500RPM.

You should be able to hit 121 in 4th @ 6800, 125 @ 7000.

I command it to shift at 6800 red line is 7000 rpm . I'm at 215 miles cant wait for the 500 miles change fluid and see how it goes. Gonna need new drag radials.

It shouldn't have a noise at all. I just got mine install today with no noise. But I had the techs put the GM 1LE gears along with Richmond's master install kit which is a basically a rebuild kit.

I was told to drive it easy for 500 miles then change fluid. Then drive it normal for 500 miles then change the fluid again.

I was told I didn't need to change the oil at 500 miles since they installed GM gears. You don't change the oil on a new 1LE at 500 miles. Now I'm wondering if I should just change it to be safe.

No noise on mine, did the gear oil change at 750 miles. Love this mod. Probably the best one out of the work I had done on the car
