Because people just cant help themselves. Social media has made everyone an opinionated news reporter. They have an opinion they need to drive home as a fact that you should mindlessly follow because they say so. And if someine opposes your "fact," you get flamed for having a diiferent way of thinking. And the cycle repeats itself.
To prove my "fact," I find it funny how so many couldn't understand why the OP would start this thread.....yet it continues to grow.
There's a head scratcher?
I say all this in jest....it is simply my "opinion" and backed by absolutely no factual information.

This ↑↑↑

And I know that my life over the years has been better for having chosen to satisfy a few 'wants' over minimum needs along the way.

I hinted at one likely answer already.

Envy.

In my mind, I win because I save my money from endless consumption and maintain my car's integrity, both physically and financially. If I keep the car long enough, it will be more desirable in the market than a modded car. It has also been my opinion that lightly modding or not modding a car and meticulously keeping the car in #1 condition will give an owner longer lasting satisfaction.

In reality, its up to you how to enjoy your car. Nothing is wrong with modding a car and getting plenty of horsepower, if that is what you enjoy.

That's the another angle to a potentially endless topic. Having toys versus having a family. Maybe it's just a matter of of priorities.

Too true.

Social media and smart-phones just make it harder to step away from it all.

What are you going to do with the money you save?

Yes but now we have the dilemma about whether or not to mod our smart phones.

When one has no interest in marriage and kids, it isn't a question of priorities. I do what I want when I want without question. I have family, friends with kids, but I don't have bother with paying for all their needs and losing half my stuff if she decides things aren't working out.

This thread receives the biggest active at the moment.

Item one. My car is "plenty fast", rather it be by a little or a lot, uttered by those rationalizing it with financial inadequacy or others financial status is butt hurt. Plain and simple.

Item two. If it wasn't such a big deal you'd be driving a V6 and not bitching about it simply because that's the least amount of money you could spend on the least amount of horsepower and that would make your argument somewhat valid. Driving an SS and complaining about others spending money on hp and your sideways slap of it being "mind boggling" makes you look like an idiot.

Item three. Starting a thread to get others to join in your "other people are stupid for spending money on horsepower" crusade just to make yourself feel better is rather pathetic.

Item four. I, for one, don't need your god dam*ned blessing to spend my money as I please.
