One Cooling Fan Not Working.
One of my cooling fans isn't coming on.
With the engine cold & the AC on, standing at the front of the car and looking in the engine bay, only the right fan comes on. With a coolant temp over 220*'s, only the right fan is on. I see in the fuse box there are 3 relays: K612 (Mini) Cool Fan HI (HC), K613 (Micro) Cool Fan Low (HC), & K614 Cool Fan CNTRL, as well as 3 fuses: #11 (Mini) Cool Fan Rly (10A), #41 (J-Case) Cool Fan HI (30A), & #44 (J-Case) Cool Fan Low (30A); all 3 fuses Ohm-out as good. I don't have a diagram to check the relays. What is the operation of the fans suppose to be? That-is, does only one fan come on at a particular temp then both fans activate at another temp? Or do both fans come on at a Low setting at a particular temp, then a High setting at another temp? Before I buy another fan, I want to make sure it's not a relay or sensor issue. |

Turn the AC on, see if that kicks on one or both fans.
I've never looked at my fans running if I'm honest.

Already did that:
A little research shows that both fans work in both Lo & Hi conditions. They run in series for Lo operation, and in Parallel for Hi operation... The relays have the connections printed on them, and they all test good as well. Looks like I lost a fan... |

While troubleshooting, the fan that wasn't working suddenly went on & off, which led me to the problem:
