My suspicions about the P.O. are somewhat confirmed. Bought as somebody's trade-in at the Jeep dealership. Looks like she liked to take it offroad. Found in glove box with assorted paperwork:

I know I'm coming in at the end of this tired subject, but here's my two cents, or one cent for all the cheapskates out there. You drive a performance vehicle that costs between 25k and 75k and you talk like .10 a gallon is real money. Really? If your so worried about gas money, how the hell did you end up in a Camaro? 93 costs roughly .40-.60 a gallon more than 87 in southeast Michigan. Look at 10-15 dollars a week,I can't think of anything better for my money than some 93 octane premium gasoline.

Back in the 1920s engineers recommended ethanol over lead for knock resistance. But Dupont owned a 1/3 share in GM and killed a lot of people while producing the lead additive and making a fortune. He also made paint that retarded children.
It's not very hard to look up.

Alcohol tends to be a bit more viscous than gasoline. It doesn't have the same lubricative qualities that gasoline gets from being a petroleum product. So it tends to dry out rubber seals and burnish metal.
Thanks to technology cars built today are able to address these issues. So I wouldn't be too concerned about it. If your running an older model car it could be an issue. |

On the subject of premium fuel,
have any of you noticed how there are a lot of discrepancies between different gas stations and how much they charge for premium? I notice most gas stations in a given area will be very close to each other on how much they charge for regular. But for premium I've noticed some stations may only cost 10 cents more per gallon than regular, while others may be as much as 30 cents more. I've always wondered why that is? Is it because they add more detergents at the higher priced stations? |

top-tier I would suspect as most difference in octane. more\better additives from I have read here.
also, premium with E10 would be much less difference in my city. |

So if I accidentally put 87 in my LS3. What are my options? Is it safe to run with it or should I put an octane booster in or siphon it out and put 91 or 93 ?

From what I've seen on other cars it will take a few tanks of premium before it turns the timing back up.
