Realistic DealBreaker
Ok. Now we've heard alot of
Concerning Z28's and GT500's. Camaro Weight, and 1/4 times. But Realistically... what will be a 'deal breaker' concerning this car. i know the only thing that will do it in for me, is price |

Price is it for me. Just based on the numbers, and options, The car is unreal.

Price may be ... but not the way you think:
I have to import the car in my country. Being an expensive or a really cheap car, the cost will be somehow the same. Thus, I'll get more for my money if I import something expensive (let's stay reasonnable though). This is why no supercharged may be a BIG deal breaker. If I admit that and decide to get a "only" 400hp SS, the deal breaker would be the front bumper and if there's no way to bring back to original concept headlights. Other deal breaker: other hot car that may come out in the meantime

Performance + A Z28 that sets me apart from every other SS/RS, LT/RS they to me sound like they will look the same, something that will perform better than the SS automatic, but be a manual + Price, doesnt have to be dirt cheap, but I want it to be comparable. I as much as I love the design and name of this car, if those 1/4 and 0-60 times dont improve when they hit the streets I may have to walk away. But don't worry It is a short walk to the Corvette.

It scares me how great this car is. This car, (whether some of you will admit it or not) is absolutly "Brilliant" to quote Jeremy Clarkson. But this car being brilliant makes it hard to belive that it would be priced in "Mustang territory" . unless mustang territory includes... bullets and shelbys.
I am fully expecting the SS to come out at around 30, and with the package upgrades, 31-32k. though id LOVE for someone to prove me wrong |

Price. It will be the make or break factor for this car, period.
If you can get an SS for under $30k and an SS/RS at or just slightly above $30k then GM will have a winner. If the SS/RS is pushing $35k though, I just don't see it selling in the numbers they want/need. I know I wouldn't drop that much on it and if an enthusiast won't then what will the general public do?

i think gm is still doing okay if the performance models go fo over 35k or close to that.
they have done a great job on the price/performance ratio on the corvette for decades, i assume the same good sense will apply here. when the price is higher and fewer perf. models get built, it makes the car that much more mythical. gm will have no problem selling TONS of the v6 models, eventually the price will level out for these as demand ramps down a little after about a two year hot period. |
