My point, though, was that the our stock Z28's could/should have come with 75-150 more HP from the factory as the suspension/shassis could have taken it with no problem, i.e., still very controllable on the track. A 600-650HP factory Z28 would capture better lap times on any track.
I get what you're saying and a lot of folks have had great things to say about a simple 100 whp bump from a mild HCI upgrade. And like you've noted, the NA power is generally more reliable. I have a huge intercooler that works fine with a 160* thermostat, as long as the car is moving. When it sits, it definitely starts to suffer from heat soak

You guys can site lap times until your blue in the face, go out and go road racing with a Z28 and a C6 1LE, you'll see what I mean. The Z28 is indestructible, never gets hot, brakes never fade, such a better car if you're really wanting to focus on PURE tracking. As far as civility, 1LE all the way.
+1

I just drove my Z/28 for three days at RoadAmerica. 25min sessions, total of 6hours of track time.

Mainly 5,500 -7,000 revs the entire time. Absolutely drove the snot out of the car. Had to replace front pads Sunday AM, was cording my Hoosier R7's (need more Camber...), just flying.

This LS7 just yawns at me at the end of the session as if to say...."that's all you got "???

Over 2,000 miles of tough track time the past 10 months, car is a beast!

Was up at RA last month
Had a great time running with GT3 & M3's
After a session seasoned drivers will stop by and praise the car for how well it runs
LS7Z28 will remain a viable track car for time to come

Curious as to what oil you're using, for reference.
