I am fully expecting the SS to come out at around 30, and with the package upgrades, 31-32k.

though id LOVE for someone to prove me wrong
I expect my RS SS to cost just under $30k. GM hasn't failed me yet, and now the hard part is following through with a price that puts the last nail in the Mustang's coffin. I know it'll cost more than a Mustang, but I expect it to be only $1500 over the cost of a Mustang. Originally, they promised us $500 over, but I'm way too lazy to find threads quoting this right now.

I'm with Blur. If GM can deliver us the SS/RS for at or under $30k, this car will easily make its 100k per year goal (and probably even exceed that the first year).

It would just be too hard for most families/individuals to afford a car payment on a $35k+ car, insurance on a 400+hp car, and gas for a 23mpg car. Cutting the MSRP to at or below $35k would be a HUGE psychological help.

Price! Price! Price! means the difference between the v8 and the V6 for me. If I can afford the V8 then that is what i will get

1. Weight--- Strike one

2. Price--- Unknown but I feel like we have been conditioned to accept something higher than a Mustang with words like "upscale" ect......... I dont want a BMW. IDC about horns buttons and whistles.

3. What will the next Mustang bring to the table? 400hp/3600 lbs? Maybe and maybe not. Im willing to weight (no pun intended ) it out to find out and I will not be gouged by any dealer. I will simply wait it out.

Bottom line is I want the most bang for my buck and I have no loyalty to any brand.

Nothing will be a deal breaker for me. Price is the most important on my list, now that all the specs have been released.

Price and "EPA verified" MPG will be what determines if I get the V6 or V8.

The REAL deal breaker would be price. I think it goes without saying if it's too expensive I won't be able to afford it. I'd rather wait a few years (which I planned anyways) for a Z28 to come out and cross my fingers that I could afford it, but if that wouldn't work, I'd be pretty happy with an SS. I'd just have to throw some more stuff on it to run with a Shelby.

I'll admit the highway MPG worried me a little, but for a better car, with a lot more power, I think it would be worth it. In addition, like I believe 'Father had posted, we would likely find a little better mileage than what it's rated, under certain circumstances. My Jetta 2.5 was only rated at like 28 MPG and I could get up to 34 MPH on the freeway at 75, so I don't put too much stock in the EPA ratings.

Price...

Price for me... either saving for a sizable down payment on the Camaro and cut my payment down or pay off my truck and finance the whole Camaro. Either way, the cheaper= the better. My day job company works with GMAC; wonder if we could negotiate swinging an employee discount...

I'm gonna have to get on the "Price" bandwagon, that and if options are priced to high.

I really hope you guys are right with your guesses of the RS/SS being right around $30k. I doubt I could do $35. Really, with the economy the way it is and the gas prices, Chevy needs to be very careful with the price. People are moving towards fuel efficient cars so they would need a really good reason to go for a high performance gas guzzler(and let's face it, the Camaro is) and the right price could do it.

Question, Isn't the G8 GXP is going to have the same engine and transmission and other proformence goodies the camaro have, Wouldn't they price the S.S. Camaro based of the GXP, and the G8 GT is already 30K, still don't think is going to be under 30K, 10 to 1 its going to be 35K and under, that's just my guess, I'm optimistic that GM can get the Camaro under 30k or the low 30's

G8 is a sedan, camaro is a sport coupe marketed to a completely different segment.

It's safe to say that it will be less than the a G8 GT. I think. We won't know until they tell us.

I'm expecting price to be reasonable so the only deal breaker for me is if my kids can't fit in the back. If they can't or are cramped I'll go on to one of my other options.

If this thing is UNDER $30k with the V8 I may just have to trade my G8 GT in...
