Valve spring compressor recommendations
Hi All
Which valve spring compressor do you recommend for Gen 4 & Gen 5 LS engines(mostly L99, LT1 & LT4), for engine in-vehicle cam replacament jobs The price range is sooo big Thanks in advance Last edited by Inspiro; 07-21-2017 at 01:06 PM. |

Well gen 4 engines have several different head types. I used a crane cams tool for LS3 heads.

I went with comp cams spring comressor. Not for sure why but on one side it was awesome. The other side it sucked. The bolts that screw into the head seemed too short and i bent them compressing the drivers side. Hence why they pack two sets of bolts. Since they bent they screwed the threads on a few of the holes. If they were longer and had more thread engagment it would have worked better

Also should have been a grade 8 bolt. They seemed cheap

The crane cam one was extremely useful, worked perfectly with minimal space usage so I could do it without pulling the heads.
