4L80 trans leak
Ok so got the trans put in and all of it works great. Except the oil leak coming from the trans lines to the cooler. We've done several different washers like now we put copper ones between the fitting and trans but its still leaking. It doesn't seem to start untill you do a long third gear pull then any half throttle pull it starts smoking bad from hitting the exhaust that goes right by there. So I'm wondering if may it's hitting the floor board and flexing the fitting and causing the leak. How much clearance are you guys that have done the conversion have in that area. Thanks

You sure its coming from there and not from that vent tube on top of the trans? I overfilled mine and it was coming out from somewhere and smoking on the exhaust

Well that's a good point and we aren't sure the dip stick is accurate. The dip stick came out of a Silverado and I got the part number from here on the forums. I think the stock trans takes 7.7 quarts and the Hughes trans adds 4 quarts. We put 12 quarts in and the dip stick reads full hot. So not sure if that's right. Going to try some banjo style trans fittings and see if that fixes it. Thanks
