[How To] Install V1 Police Radar (Hardwire)
I know a lot of people used the above headliner wires. But, I'm not a fan of messing around with small wires.
Here's a quick tutorial I made as I didn't find any other ones out there for a guide. Last edited by rtist; 07-26-2017 at 05:26 AM. Reason: embedding utube video |

First thanks for this video. It seems to me that this knowledge can be used with other radar detectors too. I know too that many brands including Escort and I think Valentine, Uniden and Radenso all use RJ11 connectors so once it's set up you can change brands and use the same wiring.
Question, Why do you want your radar detector pointing backwards? I know there's guys on a forum I frequent that have both front and back facing detectors but I've never seen anybody put their only detector in the back of the car. |

I have a tinted rear view window now and you can't see it either. Police are most likely to give you a speeding ticket if you have a police radar in the front. |

I don't blame you. I'm running a Max II under my mirror. I hope that if I do get pulled over it's by a tall cop who has to bend over to talk to me so he won't notice it. Getting a rear tint may be a good idea so I can take it down. Btw what is your username over at rdforum?

Wow I didn't know they taught them to bend their knees to look in but it makes sense now that I think about it. I ordered the R3 and will see how I can mount it to be the least visible.
P.S. Run Waze for cop alerts if you don't already. There's millions of users and numerous people warn of cops. You can get the older version where you can adjust warning distances in the "Passive Countermeasures" forum at rdforum here: https://www.rdforum.org/showthread.php?t=36980 The newest version of Waze they made it so you can't adjust the warning distance and it's very little notice you get. This happened because cops got pissed that people would warn each other about speed traps etc and it was costing them money. However the cops claimed it was like setting them up and putting them in danger which is obviously a lie. It's about the money. With your driving history you need to be super careful. I wasn't aware that the earlier version had a difference in distance alert. |
