Is the V6 enough power for the weight of the LT?

My last car had a 2.2 litre 4cyl and had 200 hp and 153 lbs/ft or torque... it also weighed a staggering 900 lbs less than a Camaro LT...

This car wasn't really fast... it had some power but nothing spectacular. 0-60 was 8.5 seconds.

Now, when it comes to the feeling of power of a car I know torque has a lot more influence than horsepower so I'm just wondering if the weight of the Camaro is too much of an offset for the power of the V6?

I haven't had the privelige of test driving any Camaro yet... not until I have some more money saved up. So, I'm just wondering what the opinions in terms of the performance of the car? Does the car "feel" heavy? Does it feel underpowered?

Plenty of power in my opinion. Very happy with my V-6!

I've pulled a 5.6 0-60 on a cool morning... 6.0 during the warm afternoons.. 2.5 to 2.9 seconds is a LOT in a 0-60 run....

this has been discussed before... might want to search...

I drove a V6 and V8 CTF's back in early march both were manuals and I was very impressed with how quick the V6 was. Obviously its no V8 but its definitely got some power so I ordered a V6, its just a better daily driver for me.

You won,t have any problems with getting a speeding ticket in the V6. The fastest speed limit is 75 and its been posted showing the V6 doing 146 mph.

I think another poster said it best a while back:

'nuff said.

True... I would be very happy with a 0-60 in the 5-6 second range.

This time was with your exhaust and cai mods?

The only time I wished the v6 had more power was when I was trying to keep up with an SS from a stoplight going back up to the 60mph speed limit. With 40% more horsepower and 54% more torque, the SS was just plain FAST while I was pushing the poor V6 to keep up. For the other 4000+ miles I've driven my V6 as a daily driver, I've been more than happy with power it puts out.

Keep in mind, other than that one mistake I made when I bought a PT Cruiser when they were new, every other vehicle I've owned has been a V8. This V6 is definitely not underpowered!

That's good to hear, especially since you've got familiarity with V8s.

I guess the only other thing that's holding me back is the sound... but I'm not sure that can justify the price difference.

Im old school all my previous toys had to be V8's or nothing. My last V8 was a 6.6 litre to give u an idea what i liked. I can afford any model it was just what i found was correct for me. This is my daily driver so i thought what the hell ill read about the V6 then test drive both motors before i form my final opinion. After test driving both models yes the V8 is amazing but the V6 shocked the hell out of me how good it was. Imo it goes like a scared rabbit when broken in for a daily driver its tons of power. My advice test drive one and form your own opinion. Gm hit a home run imo with both offerings there is no wrong choice.

This is good to hear...

Truth be told, I think i would probably just get myself into trouble with the V8... it's like a ticket waiting to happen.
