Red face Pressing on the paddle shifters in accident while turning

Ok so I have no idea how to use the paddle shifters that I have on my automatic Camaro. And while I was turning I accidentally press on the paddle shifters and the rpm stick dashboard was slowing really slow while not pressing on the gas, and didn't know what to do so I continue driving for 2 minutes before getting home. Can that damage or effect the engine or something? Once the car is turned off will it restart to normal automatic? Or do I have to change back?

No damage done. Any shift that will harm your engine will be denied.when you come to a stop it will automatically swith to automatic or drive mode.

So it won't do anything even if I press on them like 3 times, because it sure makes the exhausts louder.

Try putting the gear shift back into drive instead of M. That should take care of it.

Word of advice...

Take your car to a very quiet and secluded road and practice with the paddles.

Until then, stay out of 'M' mode.

Yes, manual mode will reset after turning the car off or moving the gear shift out of D/M and back in again. You can also hold the right paddle shifter down for 2 to 3 seconds to exit manual mode. And lastly, you can shift between D & M while moving.

Yea I was in driving mode and I accidentally press the paddle shift, I am no where near in starting to drive manual, I don't want to mess up the engine or something

The early models don't do that, unfortunately. Not sure what year it started.

I have a 13 SS auto, and by pressing the right paddle for 3 seconds on M mode, it brings it back to S mode. Like other members have suggested, simply shift to D and it resets to auto.
Paddles are fun to use, practice shifting points on the rpm and you’ll enjoy it in no time.

Isnt that kind of what forums are intended for? What if the OP bought the car without a manual? He (or she) is just just asking for friendly advice
