I could not believe my eyes!

Yesterday morning I drove my 2014 Camaro convertible onto the Marine Corps base at Cherry Point, NC. When I pared her there was not a single vehicle near me, when I cam out of the base exchange I noticed a newer Dodge SUV that from a distance looked extremely close to the Camaro. I stepped up the pace when I noticed three men getting into the Dodge. Just as I got to my car I "clearly saw" the rear right passenger open his door directly into the Camaro's driver's side rear quarter. I was screaming like there was no tomorrow. The individual looked down at the my car and then continued to enter his vehicle and shut the door. WRONG!
I opened the his door and started screaming for him to get out of the vehicle. The driver shut the Dodge off and all three males exited the vehicle. Without question I thought it was going to get even uglier and that was not a problem.
Guy tried to shrug it off as if it was nothing much. There is a quarter size dent with a half inch of paint missing. There was not a single scratch on my Camaro that is now showing 8,000 miles on the clock.
I telephoned the MPs , three units arrived on scene and a report was taken. We have notified his insurance company and I will see three different shops tomorrow. I checked around to find out what shops were top notch at blending. My Camaro is metallic gray and I want her right again.
The owner/driver of the Dodge is active duty Navy and the two passengers were his brothers who spoke no English. Words can't describe how upset I was, sure it's just a car but I actually watched this turd drive the door into my car, look at what he had done, looked at me and then thought he was leaving! Was not a good day my friends.

Welcome to the door ding club! We went to Oshawa Canada when they had a tour of the Camaro assembly line. I have a black SS and it's always kept in my garage. The car had ZERO dents or scratches of any kind. My wife and I parked the car at the host hotel to check in and I parked at the end of the parking spots so no one would park next to me. We come out of the hotel just in time to see that a dufus with a big Ford truck had parked right next to my Camaro. My wife immediately seen the scratch and dent that we both know wasn't there prior to getting to the hotel.

I told my wife to get in the car and I am going to chase the SOB down and he is going to pay to get it fixed. I saw the truck about 7-8 cars ahead of us and I was trying to get around people to catch up with the a-hole. There was just to much traffic and I couldn't catch up to him enough to even get a plate number.

I don't understand WTF is wrong with people. Why did the ass have to park right next to me when there were 20+ open parking stops? He had to know that he hit my car hard enough to cause damage. It was also obvious to him that the car was practically brand new so wouldn't you expect the guy to be considerate and at least leave a note with his name and contact information?

I took the car to the dealer I bought it from when we got back to Ohio. I have bought a lot of vehicles from this dealer so they all know me. The Service Mgr quoted me $850 to fix the dent and the scratch. He told me it's to hard to match black because it shows everything and if he just tried to fix the spot it would show.

Well I used a tiny bit of touch up paint to cover the scratch but if you get at the right angle you can still see the dent. Every time I wash the car I see that scratch and dent and I get pissed off all over again!

Same thing multiple times with mine. Park way out, plenty of open spots when I come back and some pos has parked right there and dinged or scratched it. One backed his trailer hitch into my lower grill and took off. Wtf is wrong with people.

May be a bit late but you could check with the hotel for surveillance footage, might have captured the plate...

Op.....after last year and my experience with paintless dent repair door dings and small dents dont bother me as much. If the paint isnt damaged they will make it look perfect

Like others, I park remote ... if there is a chance that someone may park next to Camaro I put these on the sides of the car.
They do protect the gill area, doors, and even wheel flares that stick out the furthest.
Homemade out of leftover PVC pipe and some super wide pool noodles, cushions on hooks.
The ding preventers run along the widest part of the car on each side.
Five seconds per side to take out of trunk and install.

At Camarofest factory tour I parked in the last row near the exit gate, there was not a car anywhere near -- very long walk to the tour entrance.
Nearest car was about 10 rows closer to the building.
When I came back outside after the tour, I saw all these other Camaros parked adjacent; like a flock of seagulls.
Guess they were also trying to stay away from careless car door openers!

Looks like it goes up and over and tucks behind the door handle.

Bingo - true. Sorry for thread Hijack. Comments from folks that see it in person run 50/50 pos/neg. Actually, neg comments don't bother me at all but door dings sure would!
Reducer Tee fitting with glued in vertical straight pipe going up to hook made of two 90 degree elbows joined with short section of pipe, padded with heater hose, and 3M foam tape.
That vertical rise of the Tee goes through a hole in the pool noodle, it also serves to lock the pool noodle on securely to the PVC pipe so it does not slide around on the pipe.
The section with the rope loop/mirror support side has a wood dowel at the end that locks the pool noodle on to the PVC pipe. Have a thread with more detail.
Patent Pending (c) 2015 Ron ;-)

Many years ago, I had just gotten my car from the paint shop... my Mistubishi Starion was now yellow (Fact: The BEST color!).

I stopped at a store, and when I came out, I saw this huge ass, with the owner of said huge ass rummaging around in his back seat... with his car door TIGHTLY pressed up against my car... and digging deep into the fresh new paint.

I hollered at the ass, and the jackwad stood up. It took him a little while to figure out that wedging your door up against another car is NOT cool. However, he wordlessly eventually pulled his car door away from mine.

Yup... deep gouges.

I was a little more hotheaded back than, and I've had already unsuccessfully tried to recover damages before, from a similar experience. I was cynical about getting this paid for, and I was pretty ticked off. I saw no point in even trying to get compensated, so instead, I "slammed my door open," ramming it into HIS car door. I did it over, and over, and over, and over. My point was very clear... and so was the new dent in his door.

Sure, not the responsible thing... not mature, not levelheaded, and even damaged my own door just a little more.

But SO worth it.
