I rode a friend's Honda Hurricane (1100?) when they came out decades ago. Took it thru the gears to about 110mph. Scary fast. Think it was a 10 sec 1/4 mile bike.

With the law cracking down hard on street racing, I'm not inclined to square off on the street. The downside is just too much compared to the very little upside. Things like loosing my entire life savings and home run around in my mind at my old age. it sucks getting old.

When the 105 freeway was finished in LA, I wondered what the landing speed of a jumbo jet was at LAX. The freeway was long, flat, straight and parallel to the landing path. I had a nice bike so I decided to find out. The answer is 165 mph.

500 would be the most I would want from a daily driver on the street, I know I am in the middle 400's and that is enough for me, couldn't afford the kind of modes it would take to get it to 500 so will be content with what I got, which is faster than most cars in my area!!

no car is fast enough for me......I view slowing to 250 knots as painfully slow.

I sold my 04 CBR1000RR a couple months ago. It ran 9.96 with a 250 pound rider(me lol) and was stock wheelbase. I surprised a bunch of stretched bikes and even took out a couple zx14s. I miss my bike sometimes but I know I will get another, newer bike later on.
To answer the OP question, the max power on the street is really dependent on the setup. Guys running boost can reach higher power levels while retaining decent street manners. My opinion, the max power level of a naturally aspirated setup on the street would be about 500whp. For boosted setups, I would say about 750-800. Granted, you will have a hard time planting 500+whp on the street, but it is fun to have that power available. As far as an ET, I consider mid 11s to be fast for a four wheeled vehicle. Once I get my SS (not so near future) I'm shooting for 10s, possibly 9s lol. Then again, I'm the nut job that can never go fast enough lol

I think there are essentially two types of people - those that are satisfy-able with a reasonable about of power (stockish SS levels) and then those that will never be satisfied. I've driven some powerful cars (ie. 500+rwhp) and found them impressive, but it didn't take long for me to think, "yea, this could be faster." It truly is a sickness. It can't be explained, its not logical by any "normal" standard. And yet some of you reading this know exactly what I'm talking about.

I guess a good rule of thumb for street power is how much you can reasonably hook. On most drag radials that's somewhere in the 600whp range. If you're a track junkie though, you'll want something you can turn up.

Hard to argue the 'sickness' logic. I went from an LT to the SS. Most HP I've ever owned. For the 'most part'...it's fan-freakin-tastic. Then you hang here, read about the available mods, the fringe stuff and the off the chart mods and you're hooked. Well, at least by what a prudent budget will allow...maybe!

Fortunately, (if it's not you) you also get to read about the horror stories where dude's Camaro is in the garage with lunched motor and he's making $400 a month payments to GMAC to store it in his own garage. So summers in between lies the perfect Camaro! All the best out there.

Also I had a 730rwhp c5 z06 that I was addicted to roll racing with and always gauged everything else by how fast that was. Then I had a built turbo Hayabusa that made 440ish whp on race gas . I went a real 219mph on that bike gps verified and it probably had 240 in it .., nothing compares to that it feels like your literally riding a missile

I don't put a number on it. For me, it's all about the drive. Whether its 90hp or 900....as long as the drive is exciting. I guess the best way to explaing it.......its a feeling......or the feel of the automobile. It either has it or it doesn't.

Im only 360hp to the wheels....but a gear swap.....3200 stall and an aggressive trans tune make the car just a blast to drive.

For the street enough HP to smoke the rear tires from traffic lights and make it fishtail...
