Engine temps rise no matter the occasion let's keep in mind most guys/gals nowadays are street racing as well majority of the time and FYI the air intake is one of those parts that heat soak on a all motor build...... but to each his/her own. This will be my last comment on this matter, it's rhetorical.

Does it demand a tune like the old one, or it will work fine without, I will eventually tune it once I get the LTH and the cam, but that might take a few months |

When I put mine on I needed to go back and retune because it was going a little leaner when I was out on the road at speed.
On the dyno stationary it was fine and the A/F was right where we wanted. That's a good thing and shows its getting the airflow it's designed to get out in real world driving conditions. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I don't think this is like the early Vararam units from 2010 that blew the fuel trims out to +15%.

I went to the track last Friday on my NA GPI setup, ran 11.5 @ 122 with my AWFUL K&N Typhoon that is made out of aluminum lol, don't ask me why I still have it. I'm pretty sure my car was pulling timing, as my car is capable of 1.4-1.560s all day. I ordered the Vararam DRX the same day, because after talking with Ryan and a few guys in the 10s NA, my car was most likely pulling timing. I will report back with my results, I'm going back to the track on the 18th. Will see if my car launches like it's supposed to, or if I pick up any MPH. I imagine the gains from swapping to this intake with my current mods will be huge.

on the website they claim its for SS and ZL1 but I am not really sure it will fit the ZL1?
Do you know more about that? unfortunately their email address (sales@vararam.com) is not working anymore. Only reason is because this looks so nicely like stock. In my area it's strictly forbidden to run a CAI and all the others (rotofab etc.) are really too obvious. |

Well I just got the intake installed and previously I had a terrible K&N aluminum intake. I don't notice any noise difference or power difference so far.. I am headed to the track in a couple of hours though. Seems it'll be quite hot today but we'll see if I pick up anything over a couple weeks ago.
My car is already really loud with an SS4VVT cam, headers, X Pipe and borla ATAK so maybe that's why I couldn't notice a sound difference, would be easier for the stock guys lol.

Just got done with my install. I followed the tips that you all posted up here. I would say with out a doubt, taking the liner off in the wheel well is a must.
My opinion on vararams directions. If you are going to suggest taking liner out of wheel well, provide socket sizes and torque sizes. Not a BIG deal but would of been helpful. The size of the OEM nuts for the factory box, were not provided, again no biggie. It would of been beneficial for the pictures to be in color. Over all it went extremely smooth. Like some one else I use the existing pvc tube from the factory to make it cleaner. The hose they provided was too short and to mimic their position, mine did not work like that at all. The plastic shroud to remove only had TWO fasteners and I found one behind the SS emblem and followed their directions for the radiator and saw the other. The last two pics show you the locations for the fasteners. The second to last picture you can see one finger, to the right is my other finger pointing to the hole the fasteners was at. I could not get my arms that far down there so a little muscles and came out clean.

Anyone have issues with installing this? I put one on last week, the air box seems to just sit on the washer bottle. There is a lot of movement on it, and on the first test drive the tube pulled out of the boot at the throttle body. The clamps were tight.
Am I missing something, or is there a way that the air box attaches to the bottle part?
