Second gen 5 2ss here one a vert auto the other a stick coupe..Zero issues either from 2011.......But then again I don't park mine on the surface of the sun 24/7 LOL........ A mild wind whistling can be the sound you may get from a aftermarket intake also BTW.....or a leak from a improperly reinstalled stock air box leaking.....LOL de mod..heck some dealers do that then the sales staff take stuff... SO its subjective to know exactly where the noise is coming from......

I recently retired and wanted a fun car for ME. Bought used so got a very good deal and no complaints so far. I cannot disagree with BOOSTT though. Other than my 2004 Chevy crew cab (first year and love it) I have had Jap cars because I needed that famous reliable engineering. I finally trashed the wifes 1995 Camry just two years ago. She is back in a slightly used Accord. Some people say that the U.S. cars are "getting better" but I've been hearing that for years. Now the Japs are kicking our ass with hybrids and plug-ins. Why are we always playing catch up?

It's frustrating because Chevy CAN make a much better car, but seem to chose cheap over quality in many areas. The chassis are strong and gear box feels good to me, but I just don't understand why the interior is so bad. I barely have fingernails, but, again, 14K miles and my plastic is scratched up from reaching for the seat belt, and scratches gouged in the soft plastic from the door latch too. I'm OCD and very careful about not touching anything now. haha. Maybe take the entire interior out and coat it with something more durable? Has anyone tried that? Not sure what would look appropriate and be a harder surface, but I'll be willing to spray my interior if something is available. I'll be making my own interior trim clips and fasteners this wk end. Also adding dynamat to the rear deck as it is rattling from my subs. Even the plastic above the scuff plate looks bad already. The dash imperfections seem to be related to how the leather wrap was installed with bubbles and wobbly seams more than anything. Also a gap above the stereo plastic trim is annoying to see in a basically new car. I was going to preserve her, but now I can see she won't last, so It's now going to be my daily driver. Chevy can do much better. I know that for a fact. They choose to cheap out as money is all that matters in corporate America. I'll drive this into the ground and have fun in my 911 twin turbo on the wk ends. Now that is a great car!!! Crazy that I paid the same for my used Porsche with 40K miles as I did for my HotWheels Camaro 2SS.

This thread is weird. I own a 2011 SS and while I know it could be better built for the price they were going for its imo a pretty solid platform. Im going to call out some of these member regarding their bad quality claims to back it up with pics. "Show" people the problems. Im not saying they dont exist....but some of these claims ive never heard of before....fir any car.

I think it might be wind buffeting you're referring to. That awful noise usually happens in 4 door vehicles when only the rear windows are open and the front are closed. Have to open the fronts a bit to make it go away in sedans and SUV's. I have read that it also happens in some coupes as well having to do with the air flow. I have experienced that sort of thing when I had my 5th gens. I used to keep messing with the windows a little at a time so the pressure would equalize and stop the noise....That's my guess anyway

At 43K miles my interior still looks like new, I have not had any interior problems.

Keep shopping. The car should be as tight as a drum; Thus why I don't buy this type of car used. There should be plenty of airtight examples out there just waiting for you to try them out.

I have just over 10,000 miles on my 2011 Camaro, and it looks like the day it came out of the factory. And yes, I do use all four seats from time to time. However, I DO take care of it regularly by coating the leather in a fine leather conditioner and keep it garaged when not in use. Sounds like the OP had a very rare bad interior issue or beat the shit out of it with rough usage. Only he can say, but man, never heard of all those issues at 14,000 miles.

It can't take you two minutes to see how overcrowded they are and need to wear facemasks for all the pollution they have. They live on a tiny island and the garbage goes into the water where it festers and creates pollution so bad not only do they have masks over thier mouths but they where goggles to keep the shit out of their eyes. Every apartment building has air-cleaners built-in, like airplanes, and if you can make yourself stand on a balcony without inhaling you win. It's a small island with no wind and their best product is a piece of fish dredged up from the bottom of the ocean filled with oil from the ships that traverse the area. They buy scrap iron from the US to build cars, don't clean it so the paint falls off in 2-3 years, and that's just the part you see. Engine blocks, transmissions, differentials Brake drums and rotors, all fail for the same reason. Forty years ago they were junk and nothing has changed.

I had that same wind "whistle" coming from the rear view mirror on my old v6 as well as my current SS. It is definitely some acoustic anomaly with the rear view. At 40mph it starts, then around 45-50 it goes away, then starts back up around 80mph. If you place your hand in front of the mirror it stops... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
