no disrespect to anyone's opinions here, but Fast and Loud was a show created by and hosted by... actors. not mechanics. please don't use them for any fact checking!

This topic has been beaten to death on the Corvette forum and other forums; here's my take away from all 'experts' out there:
1) There are a lot of good top name brands out there that are all pretty much equal in regards to 'quality' 2) I put absolutely no faith in any product study done by one of the product's producers ... they will always come out #1, #2 at worst. 3) Most 'experts' findings justify that the brand/product they are using is always the best. Personally, I use Mobil 1; it is readily available just about everywhere, reasonably priced, I have never had an oil-related issue with any of my vehicles (and I drive them hard) and, lastly, because if it's good enough for Chevy and winning race teams, it's good enough for me.

I did a little search and found a local parts store that says its a distributor. I may try it next oil change. (Amsoil) I'm expecting jet turbine-like performance since that engine was why it was created. Im expecting slower times at the track cuz it's so damned slippery!

All I know is that in 8 years and almost 49,000 miles I've done 13 oil
changes with Mobil-! since my SS was new. Cheap insurance imo.

M1 has been doing me right since 1979. Less friction than dinos and over 180,000 miles on beat to hell a turbo regal with 8,000 mile changes that still looked like new when we pulled the heads.
Then again, if you are anal and insist on 3,000 mile changes, you may as well stick with dino. (even though that is not 100% dino these days.)

I know, the OP probably just reset his oil life message and said, F-it! That, or he's still reading my first re-post of that 'inganeer' and his anal-y-sis. I'm thinking virgin olive oil next. I can do stir fry's with the leftovers.

Once a year on a stored or barely used car is my rule. My stored cars do less than 1,000 miles per year, and I average about once a year for an oil change. On a daily driver, I average between 3,000 and 4,000 miles per oil change. I do not take chances with oil, and I've managed to stay out of trouble in terms of engine failure due to oil.

We had a guy at work that would buy a brand new Buick every two years.
When the oil change light would come on he would just reset it. He would run up over 30,000 miles during the two years. One time he made the mistake of leaving his registration in the glove box when he traded. The new owner called him after he looked into the valve cover and asked, "why is all this sludge in here?" Which is why I never buy a used car.
