Just mailed in my dues and application, but am unable to post on the forums, or PM anyone to say that I need public area posting rights. They locked it down -too- much!

Same thing happened to me - TAG UR IT got it sorted out for me, with Mille and I was posting pretty shortly thereafter... more importantly, able to access the forms to fax over to Millie.

Another member graciously emailed me the forms needed, I just need to know where to fax em!
Listed your name as a referral when signing up on the forums, btw. Dunno if you get 'points' or anything like that.

Okay, well I would say a couple of things here, as a lifetime resident of the area. Do not stay within a mile or so of the actual Fair grounds - not a good place to be, although I am sure the rates would be really cheap (maybe even hourly!) The exception I would make here would be one of the hotels actually in downtown Dallas, in which case you are talking about 3+ stars easy and the price tag to go with it.... nice places include the Belmont (freaking cool!), the Adam's Mark, the W, the Hyatt Regency, the Fairmont, the Mansion on Turtle Creek, the Hotel Indigo (awesome!) and one or two others.

Another option would be staying east of downtown, in a suburb known as Mesquite... you'll find a variety of the national chains in the area, and hotels will be less expensive. Mesquite is a straight shot (maybe 15-25min away) down the highway (I-30) to get to the Fair.

Lastly, there are some places north of downtown on I-35. The Crescent, the Marriott and a Hilton come to mind (all in the area of the Medieval Times restaurant , if you're so inclined, lol.)

I hope this helps you weary travelers who are coming in for the Fair! Dallas is a big freaking place, so there's tons of places could you choose from to stay the night. These are just suggestions... your IMMV, so don't hold me accountable if something gets jacked up!!

I'll wait a few days to see if there's a hotel some other C5 folks are planning to stay at. Thanks for the area guidance though! The only area I've ever stayed around DFW is up toward the Addison area when I take training at the Symantec office. Seemed to be a nice area!

At that time of the morning Mesquite is only 10 minutes away.5 on the highway, and 5 on the city streets . Thats where i'm coming from ,it's a piece of cake to get to the fair from I-30 heading westbound.Just take Dolphin road south ,and follow the signs , you'll see the fairgrounds on your right pretty much the whole time.Just find gate 6 and your'e golden.

Who knows, maybe we can shave some time off that. That is after all ,the time it takes me in my truck

I am waiting to see where Scott is staying. Once I find out, I'll post up the hotel location for others to book should they wish.

Personally, I'm pretty picky on price. I won't stay downtown, but I will want to be close at a good rate. Don't need 3 or 4 stars. The regular every day hotels would be fine for me....Holiday Inn Express, Days Inn, etc.

As soon as I find out, I'll post it!

Here's the hotel info

It's going to run $99 per night. Personally, that's not too bad considering I could find a place $40 cheaper but with a whole lot more headaches wondering how my car is doing outside. Yeah...I can spend a couple extra dollars for piece of mind.

However, if someone else comes up with something better, by all means, let me know!

and the map to show where it is

Directions on how to get there from the hotel. Print and save. Might need to type in the hotel addy first.
