Programing keyfob (with no key)
Hello.
I've searched the forums, already, I have 2 different Camaros here both in the same situation. I received them with 1 original flip key working properly, and the spare keys on both are the recall ones, I have a key alone that works and starts the car, and I have the remote with no blade on it, that is not programmed. What I need here in both cars is to program just the keyfob to open and close the doors, the keys alone work to start the car. I've tried the 2 methods I've found, the one that says to insert key and hold the unlock button while turning ignition to on and off 2 times, on both cars this does not work and nothing happens, the cars don't enter learning mode. The other method I found was to insert a key, turn to on wait 5 seconds and insert he unprogrammed key (it's not my case since the key alone is programmed), and nothing happens also. I'm stuck with no solution, I just need to program the keyfobs to open and close the doors. I leave here photos of the keyfobs of both cars, so you can see what I'm taking about. ![]() ![]() Regards |

The reprogram the parts dept told me when I bought a replacement switchblade key was to start the car with old key, remove, start with the new key. It was just that simple. My original key was a recall and my new key was a switchblade.

but the thing is my blades are already programmed. the only thing i need to program is the keyfob (bladeless), that has a key separate from it that is already programed.

The metal part of the 'key' is only CUT to fit the ignition. The FOB has the chip that is programmed to recognize the car and all the lock/unlock functions. You should be able to put the key with FOB that currently works, into the ignition, turn the ignition to the ON position (without starting the car), wait 5-8 seconds.. Take that key out, put the Key with Unprogrammed FOB into ignition, turn to ON position (without turning to start the car), and the display will tell you that it has programmed another key. |

My car is a 2011. I don't know if there are any differences for later cars. I did not wait between keys. Just turning to the on position is correct, but I just started the car anyway, removed key, inserted next. I cannot think of any reason that it would make a difference if the key were a blade or separate from the fob.
Is the fob new? If it is not, I can think of two scenarios, one is that it is already programmed to another car, unlikely if it was given to you when you bought it. Or the battery is dead. Reviewing your pictures, which remote are you programming? I see that one set has remote start and the other does not. I am not sure if the remote start fobs require further programming or not, as mine is a manual not equipped with remote start. |

The thing is, the key that goes along with the keyfob that has no blade, is already programmed. So when i put in the flip keyfob that is programmed, remove it and insert the key with the unprogrammed fob, nothing happens because Im not inserting an unprogrammed key, im inserting a programmed one so nothing appears on the dash about learning new keys. I tried it in both cars and nothing appears on the dash because im inserting programmed keys. The only solution I think is to get an uncut blade that goes in the fob, cut it, and then do those steps to program it because Ill be inserting an unprogrammed key and that way it Will program the remote.
I was Just trying to see if there was a solution to this without having to buy uncut blades that Fit the fob, since I already have separate programmed keys.. |

My dealer charged me $12 to program a remote for my ex's Pontiac.
I have no clue how it is done. Ask your dealer how much it would cost.

just put blank blades in the remotes, had them cut, and programmed them successfully.
Conclusion, you can't program remote only if it's unprogrammed, using a programmed key. Regards |

All three. As he stated, he has a key, but needs to know how to program the fob. Which all three of them do.

Would you hold my hand and show me where, in any one of those videos, a FOB without a key is programmed? Which video and what time, please?

Quit being a d i c k. It does not have to be "without" a key. Because he has the dang key. Which he clearly stated. And if he takes it to the dealer, will need the key anyway. So since he has the key, use it, program the fob and be done. Rather than being an @$$ and not trying to help at all. Try using the brain you should have gotten at birth and try to come up with a solution of your own. Jeeeezzzz
