Does F/R rotor diameter really matter?
I recently had to replace my rotors and pads on my '10 SS and upgraded to a drilled and slotted rotors. I had them installed at a local brake shop, but didn't really specify where to install the larger diameter rotors. Since most cars have the larger ones up front that's how mine got installed.
What are the disadvantages I could experience if I kept them this way? Is it worth getting them swapped to match the OEM setup? Last edited by Urbanizer; 09-25-2017 at 12:18 PM. |

Disadvantages of having them installed correctly with larger rotor up front? That would be none.

I have never heard of having larger rotors on the rear, the front does the majority of the braking.

Well considering that you can't put the rotors from the rear of the car on the front I think you'll be fine.

Weird, had ZL1 brakes too long. The rear pad and caliper is still much smaller. The parking brake takes up the extra space. It's not physically possible to reverse the install.

Additionally if the parking break is in the rear I don't want anything slipping because of a smaller than stock rotor there. |

That's not possible either . Your e-brake is a drum brake on a car from the 60's only simpler. If your e-brake slips it because it's not adjusted correctly or you didn't pull it up far enough.
