Brakes Changing
Hi Everyone,
I drive Camaro 2014 SS and last time I had sent the car to service center they sent me an estimation on break pads. I was wondering on when you should change break pads and does they last for only 30K KM, my car currently doing 65k KM which is 40K Miles. Last time I had changed the breaks was on 35K KM 21K Mile). Is that normal? I dont take my car into tracks, I just use it as a daily driver. Cheers! |

It could vary by many things, but if they are stock pads, it seems they are wearing out a little sooner than others I am familiar with. But not by much, like around 25k-30k miles. You are in that gray area where they could be getting close to needing replacement and the service guy is just letting you know that you should be thinking about it soon, to change them out. Preventative maintenance is good.
![]() Brake pads on these cars are super easy to change, so hopefully they are not charging a lot of time to replace them. |

The OEM pads are excellent for a daily driver, and can last a long time. A quick look with the wheel off should give you a good idea how much further you can go before changing. There is a small metal piece on the face side of the pad that will give you an audible scraping sound if you wait too long to change them. Avoid this because you can score the rotor.
