Ignition switch replacement

Has anyone removed there ignition switch? Here is my issue: I had the dealer cut me a new key, went home to program the new key. I put the old key in and turned it to the run position, turned it off, put in the new key and started the car all was good. Then I took the key out of ignition and put it back in and the ignition wont turn, put the old key in and it still wont turn, I had the car towed to the dealer and they told me they won't do anything for me and it will cost me around $500.00 to fix, I just want to get the ignition out to have it rekeyed any help is much appreciated.

Have you tried rocking the steering wheel?
If an L99, is it all the way in Park?

I have tried everything jiggle key, rocking the steering wheel, I have a 6 speed, I think there was a burr on the new key and it damaged the tumblers in the ignition.

See this post http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...=408440&page=2

Guy had same problem and replaced the ignition switch himself. If you're not up to it ( I wouldn't be) ask the dealer to split the cost in good faith as they were the cause of the problem.

Good for you! How difficult was it to get the lock cylinder out?

It wasn't to bad, once you get the key in the right spot just use a pick tool and push in the cylinder lock and you can pull it out, I picked up a new lock cylinder kit today rekeyed it after work put all back together, there was a burr on the new key that damaged some of the tumblers.
