valve drop issue?

Has anyone had or heard of any Z28's dropping a valve? Or was that just early Zo6 LS7's?

I didn't see everything on this issue. But thanks for the advise. Hopefully some else can help.

I searched for you on this forum and found what I believe is the definitive answer your question, which I had read sometime ago.

The Raging Bull gives a good synopsis of the article, or You can click the link in his reply on the page to read the whole original article.

No problems here, nearing 10,000 miles with a handful of track days. I don't baby it much either.

I owned an early model (2007) Z06 with the LS7, and this was a common thread question, and I would say, a relatively minor issue on those early Gen6 LS7's. Trying to think of a similar "issue" that's perceived to exist with Gen5 Camaros for comparison....

On these forums, minor issues tend to get more attention that they really deserve, as we focus on the negatives. I don't believe the "valve drop issue" really got any traction after 2009+. Many owners upgraded their valve seals from the OEM, and many did nothing. Personally, I didn't have any issues with mine.

21k miles and no issues. Knocking hard on wood. Lol. Quite few guys on here are tracking them w/ zero issues.

We have a 5 year or 100K power train warranty. If something were to go wrong then it'd be covered. May have the heads checked before the warranty is up, but am not overly concerned. I've told many who've mentioned this that Classic Chevrolet (largest Chevy dealership by volume in the nation) inspected a ton of Z06 heads and none of them were out of spec. Of course there was a guy who blew his engine due to missed down shift. Claimed he had no idea what happened until they showed him the computer's interpretation of what happened. Oops.
